I have a fan on mine, no way is it going to keep your trans cool without one unless it's in the airflow in front of the radiator. I use trans line temp to trigger mine and I never see temps over 150 in the pan.
What temp do you have it kick on at?

I've debated having mine come on as long as the truck is running if I add a fan.
Not sure what that would hurt :dunno:

My fan is wired to a switched 12v. Sitting in traffic in 100* heat I’ve seen 180* but it drops to the 160’s the moment I start moving.

It wouldn't hurt anything it would just run when it didn't need to. I think 150 is a very safe temp to run it at, and if the tempo climbs higher with the fan on, then it would of done it anyway.

Oredered a new trans filter and fluid along with a new o2, should I change the plugs? I guess I could pull them and check but they have 130 miles on them.

Little different on the Terminator, I'm not sure yet I can have it controlled by a temperature setting sense it doesn't have a thermister.

Guess I need to upgrade the ECU :haha:
Messing with the software I can use line temp from the internal trans sensor and have it triggered with a custom I/O

Yes, I'm triggering mine on the internal line temp sensor from the transmission as well. It's much warmer than the pan.

Ok, new gaskets ordered along with a new o2 and trans filter. I'm debating about buying a new steering column ready to drop in but I think a GM one is the way to go. Does anyone sell a refurbished column? The truck never came factory with a tilt and I want to add it in.

I put a Brother's Trucks tilt column in mine 7 years ago, no issues so far and it looks factory.

I was just about to pipe up and say "I have one I'd send ya!" Then remembered square not Gmt400 and felt dumb :doah: lol

Actually gmt400 up till 94 or 95 is the same as the square.
They changed when they put the vortec and put the cable shifter for the transmission

Looks entirely different :dunno:
Both my 95's matched the 96 that I have.
95 tbi, 95 6.5td, and 96 vortec 454

Yeah that's why I put 94 first because I think it was the last year. 95 might have been the change over so you might find both.
The dash changed at the same time too
