Think you are talking about stain.

No not stain, I am used to stain and poly for interior furniture and trim etc in my wood shop, but there is an oil I put on the boat ski deck that is teak oil or something that you are supposed to apply, wait 10 - 15 minutes, and then wipe off before it dries, and then do that 2 - 4 times to build it up. It specifically says on the can to not let it dry completely. His sounded similar but I don't know what he used.

I have come to the conclusion I won't have the truck completely done before moab. I just don't have the time to do it the way I want to and I don't want to rush it.
 
Not so bad with seasonal vehicles. Cause there's always time while it's down a few months.
But if you live somewhere that's not necessary, it'd be hard to justify lol.
 
It might be that way because it'll squash down some when the material is stretched over it.
