1985 Chevy M1009 (CK5 build thread part 2)

I am contemplating adding a small amount of rear lift, after filling the tank and driving around for a bit, the rear end definitely was sitting lower. My guess would be the Bilstein's gas charge held up the back end a bit, and switching to the Skyjacker Black Max Hydro shocks let it sag out.
My options are: IMG_20240505_163157049~2.jpg
Left to right: WFO axle relocation plate, 1/2" lift, ( I would use the center hole, no offset), Off Road Design Zero Rate, 1" lift, (again, center hole for no offset), and the Skyjacker Block that came with the kit, tapered but about 1 13/16" at the center.
The Zero Rate is my first choice for now.

Other small things that have gotten done:
The passenger side headlight bezel was from a '85 civilian model, and painted another shade of green (barf). I had a spare on the shelf for my K10, so I grabbed some OD green spray paint from my local box store and it actually matches OK. (Never mind the random red paint showing through in places)

The front bumper was missing the lower most bolts, and I had some spares sitting around, although they were the low dome variety. A quick scuff and spray of the same paint and I bolted them in.

I also sold the tires and wheels that came with the M1009 to my Brother-In-Law, who just acquired a '84 GMC K1500 from his step dad who recently passed away. It had some old man P235's and steelies on it, the new rolling stock makes it look legit.

I did have ideas to tap those wheels and run the rally caps on the center.

I had to run and get a new battery for the K10 last week, and what better way to test it out than to use my @Engineered Vintage BBWM to straighten out the brush guard on the M1009. It was bent back a bunch at the top. Maybe a rouge jaywalker, zombie tweeker or hapless deer payed the price for steping in the way of this beast of a machine. It was impressive how far I had to bend the brush guard forward to get it to be vertical in the end. I think it came out pretty good. Last Saturday I made a run up north to see @kennyw and pick up a set of 3.73 ten bolts that were part of the deal we made on the M1009. It was around a 250 mile round trip. I think that gear ratio will do well with the 33's, and I have already secured a Lock Right from @sweetk30 to install for the rear. While there, I traded him back the Bilstein's that were on the Blazer for a medium duty military tow bar, which I am super stoked about. I have already found a set of NOS feet for the tow bar on eBay that are currently in route. Then all I need is a few pins and I will be ready to flat tow the Blazer. I also picked up a set of 14bolt brake drums for @Cucv_M1008 from @kennyw .
On the way home, I stopped by to see @fastazz81 at his shop space, and check out his progress on his '66 Chevelle. That thing is going to be sweet.

I can also tell you the ORD custom springs on the K10 are super soft, and the weight in the back had me squatting a few inches. And I had forgotten I only had about 20 psi in the rear tires, (the 37's are load range C and don't need much normally) so I had to pull over and break out the ViAir to get me proper and safe.

Finally got all the rear window crank parts in, and put it all together, and installed it. Hooray, now I can lock the tailgate and roll the window down without pliers! While I was in there, I gave all the moving parts a liberal amount of chassis grease. It is interesting on how the re-pop gasket is so thin compared to the OG. I probably should of just re-used the original, but I am not going to take it apart again.

I had a few hours to spare today, so I got after installing the ORD Zero-Rates for the rear end. I am definitely glad I installed them, it came out nice and level. I used the Skyjacker U-bolts that came with the kit.

I also picked up a Crankcase Depression Regulator Valve, but apparently Rock Auto doesn't have the right one in stock. I used a 1985 K30 as my search vehicle, figured those would be J-Code 6.2's. Maybe one of you guys knows the correct part number.

And my NOS tow bar feet came in today, they were a smoking deal from eBay.
