1985 D30 M1008 BUILD 52s/37s

So this is what happens when I swap them side for side.....

I took my front hangers off and had originally planned to swap them left to right also, but I don't like the way they don't fit flush with the frame on the bottom side. I don't want to spend a lot on the B-52's, but we'll see what happens.

I also watched a video on leaf springs made by Eaton that suggested taking the springs completely apart and painting them was not a great idea. They said painting them helped contribute to the quicker breakdown of the spring. I've never done it so I don't know.

Got the hangers mounted up. Had to modify them a little to fit the bunper mount and tow hooks. Everything should mount up how it's supposed to now.

Bolts are a little long lol

How I trimmed the hanger. Had to trim the mount also

You can see how they set flush together now.

Next step is rear shackles.

Need to get some rivets out and bolt these on

Here's what the stock shackle and stock placement looks like with no weight on it

Here is what 7.25" shackle so in the stock location with no weight on it

Looks fine to me.. If you run a shorter shackle you'll get into the spring quicker making for a slightly stiffer ride, as long as it doesn't touch the frame or go past cent and flip your fine.

Got the rear shackle hangers moved and mounted. Decided to order some zero rates, axle is ready to be hung as soon as those show up.

With th 52's and the hangers moved forward I have a nice shackle angle. This is with no weight on the spring. I put a jack under it and flattend the spring out and the shackle did exactly what it's supposed to!

Parts stores have them. Tempted to just grab a new one there. Waiting on steering brace for that also

Is it going to fit out of the garage with the 37s on it?

Got some parts from ORD

Zero rates painted and axle hung, steering box and brace installed, shocks. Just a few more things to do up front and then i can begin the rear

I've never seen a truck in person with the 52" springs. My question is are these springs shot? It seems as if they have zero arch left in them. The weight of the truck is on the axle through the jack stands.
