1985 D30 M1008 BUILD 52s/37s

That's about how much arch a stock 1/2 ton rear spring has. It's going to have a bunch of travel either way. You can definitely tell that it's going to sit a lot higher just by that picture.

shock bodies hitting the axle? Just wondering why they're upside down.

Looks good :thumb:

I had just thrown that one shock on. No the body is not hitting the frame. Honestly wasn't sure which way would work better, I'll probably flip them

What 52" springs are you running and how much lift will it end up with on the front compared to stock? I have already moved my shackle mount in order to run shorter 67-72 6" lift springs for now and in the future I will be moving my front hanger or doing an A-bomb and throwing on some 52s and I want to end up with about a 4" lift at the max to match my rear setup and clear my 35s.

Those shocks supposedly won't dampen correctly upside down. Some other designs (monotube) work either way such as Bilsteins, Fox etc.

They are stock rear springs from a 80s Chevy K10. Supposedly they should give me about 4 inches of lift. With the zero rate I am expecting about five

I've never seen a truck in person with the 52" springs. My question is are these springs shot? It seems as if they have zero arch left in them. The weight of the truck is on the axle through the jack stands.

Your springs look right for a 52 front swap. Don't worry about that. It looks sick dude. Nice and clean work. Keep it up

52 spring swap in the front will give you right around 4" of lift. If you throw zero rates on the front, or start messing with shackle length it can start effecting your overall lift hight, but if you do it like he has done here (minus the zero rates), you will get 4" of lift

You are correct sir, flip them the other way or else they will not dampen correctly

I'll flip the shocks they're not mounted, literally threw that one on just to take a picture LOL

Ok perfect how many leaves do yours have? I know there's several options.

I ran all 5+the overload. It's a heavy truck I we will see how it does. I can always take one out
Where did you position the zero rate?

They are centered, just using them for the extra inch. The axle already seems plenty far forwards. If any thing I may use it to move the axle back

No pics tonight but I got the kingpins rebuilt and the steering arm installed.

Also flipped the shocks over and put both front shocks on

I have tomorrow off work. The front will be on its wheels and I'll get plenty of pics
