1985 LS powered rock crawler

Whoa. Awesome work.

The opportunity to learn in a shop of that caliber at 19 years old. Priceless.

Sick dude. I envy you entirely for your job. I would be stoked beyond belief to wake up and do that everyday. :thumb:

I hope I can just make it out to KOH one year and be on a pit crew or something even. Your building them and 3 years younger than me, not fair.

Yeah KOH is a lot of fun! its pretty insane to see the rigs racing in such gnarly terrain! We are trying to finish a jeep body ultra4 racer in time to bring it out there this year. It should be there! would be cool to see you out there :woot:

Going to be painting my engine bay today. anyone have any suggestions on what paint to use? nothing too glossy or fancy. just want it to look a little nicer

Cool build subscribed  and yah maybe have a mod move this thread to the driveway build threads as someone else mentioned.:thumb:

Got my engine bay all cleaned up and painted semi gloss black. Decided i am going to rip my whole dash out and make custom aluminum dash. Should be pretty easy and look a whole lot better then my cracked factory dash

Either edit your title in your first post asking a mod to move this thread to the driveway build threads. Or find a moderator on here and send a private message asking that your thread be moved.

And :thumb: on building your own dash. I did the same thing my stock one was all cracked and falling apart. I ripped the cracked cover off and all the foam and used the steel frame underneath to make my custom dash. Still got some more work to do on it yet.

Curious to see the ls go in I've been contemplating doing the swap more and more myself so post plenty of pics haha

Ok thanks. & thats interesting. never thought of using the stock frame. i think I'm going to rip the old frame out too and make a completely new one. It will be pretty simple looking with some nice bead rolls on the face of it.

New dash will look something like this one we made at my work. but will be one big piece across.

Fuel

I am going to place another summit order today, getting inline fuel filter, MAF, some more gauges, some fittings and few other things. Was thinking of going 10 micron inline fuel filter post pump and just having the factory sender filter pre pump. Anyone with EFI run into any problems by not running a real pre pump filter? whats your fuel set up? i know we run a 100 micron pre pump and 10 post pump on all the race cars at work but i am not building a race car so i think it should be fine and not mess up my pump. any suggestions?

My old rig with TBI I had two walbros in tank (70 micron rating) and a 40 micron post filter and never seems to have any issues. New rig with LQ4 has four walbros in tank and a 10 micron post filter but hasn't ran yet.

Sorry i have not updated you guys lately, been super busy with work trying to get a car done for king of the hammers coming up. But made some progress today. Got my stage 2 700r4 delivered from bow-tie overdrives, their building is like 2 buildings down from ours and we are building a trophy truck for the general manager so he gave me an amazing deal on my tranny!

I guess i should have rear other peoples build thread who have done the same swap as me before diving in mine head first. Tried to put the motor in, didn't fit, oil pan hit the crossmember, cut an inch out of the crossmember, made a new plate to box it back in, welded it in, tried to put the motor in, still hit. :doah:
Got pisses & busted the rivets off the crossmember and threw it in the trash!!!! The crossmember supports the motor mounts so i had to figure out something to do, so i cut and welded a small piece of angle iron to the motor mounts connecting them to the frame rails, dropped the motor in there and it fit great.
