Just bought my 1986 K5 at 17 and ive absolutely loved square bodies since i saw one rolling down the road when i was about 10 years old, anyways I want to do some basic things and maybe get some help from some of yall older folks that know more about these trucks than me. First things first i believe I blew up the spider gears in the factory 10 bolt that has well over 200 thousand miles on it and the original 350 and 700R4 were replaced with a 350 and a th400 with a Np205 case i believe, Any tips or tricks i could get with rebuilding my rear end i already ordered a new diff for it auburn limited slip figure I might aswell get the rear axle built so i dont have to deal with it anymore as well i will need some tips as to tuning my carb and some electrical (none of my gauges work even with a brand new cluster) Thanks folks !, ill be posting some pictures soon she is crusty but trusty

Just finished building the rear axle a weak ago and wouldn't you know on my way to school and the U joint on the rear driveshaft swings off and breaks the transfer case at the tail shaft of the transmission so im swapping out my 241C for a 208 case so i can have a working speedo Pictures coming soon

well been a while since i updated but since i last posted the transfer case is in those short foot adapters between the turbo 400 and the 208 cost a pretty penny, also found out that my volt gauge and speedo now work my gas gauge was working but all the sudden it pegged out dont really know if the sending unit is popped or the ground wire is bad personally hoping its just the ground wire, also both front wheel U joint have crapped out so bad it feels like something broke when i put it in gear so those will be coming in the mail soon pictures coming soon

I was 17 when I got my k5, learned everything on this site. I still have my truck and im now 33! Lots of different ideas come and go with the build but i am looking forward pictures!

Well god damn it feels like i haven't been on this site since Christ was a foot soldier. a lot has changed truck now sits on 35s a 6 inch lift and looks much better to me. my tired old 350 was really bugging me with the smoke screen she made :( she was a good gal i built a motor with some eagle rods and pistons and crank some junkyard vortec heads a summit k1103 cam and a Holley 670 truck avenger to top her off. i couldn't really notice a difference between the 2 engines but this motor blew my th400 to smithereens lost 2nd and 3rd.... well sometimes they come back from vacation and it slips in every gear the trans literally screeches so im swapping in a fresh th400 with a shift kit and such
