1986 M1008 Rebuild

Good progress, is that a 1 piece tranny pan/converter cover? I've never seen one of those before, who makes that? Does it use the factory braces too, doesn't appear to. Is that aluminum?

No factory braces and it bolted to a Cummins/Chevy adapter. Yes it's aluminum and I don't know who makes it.

In the last few pictures you can see the bump stop pads Mitch built and the 14 bolt brake bracket I got from Matt, Thanks, Matt. Also need to Thank Eric for the extra TH400 203 output, it's nice to start the rebuild before tearing out the one in the rig. I still owe you those stock shafts from the Blazer for that trans.

Looks good ,I need to start bending tube on my truck .It will be nice when we both get the long term jobs done and can go wheelen, there are new extreme trails poping up at five mile every time I go there.

Thanks, I hope to be back on the trail by the end of next month. Mitch and I have been working it steady since early December, Mitch has an eye for problems and we have spent quite some time fixing them.

More tube work this weekend, also finished rebuilding the th400 and installing a tci reverse manual valve body.

Mitch cut out a few more bars which made it about 2" narrower per side while cleaning it up a little.

Well the 44" rockers are around 2880.00 to my door:doah: now I'm thinking about some 47" ltbs:D there around 2400 to my door.

44" rockers would be cool but the width is a bit of a detriment, the extra height is nice.

47s on the other hand and the rig becomes unreliable, with good shafts you start breaking ring and pinions, knuckles, etc.

I would stick with the 44s if I were you. The 47s would be cool but like I said it tends to make the whole rig unreliable

What caused this move to bigger skids?

The 42s just look so little on the back at ride height and probably been spending to much time with the Becks.

Eric, I am also worried about it being reliable with the bigger tires, also the 6.2 turning them.
