1987 GMC Jimmy Paint Job Quote

I wouldnt use rustoleum on something you want to stay nice. at least do a single stage auto paint so it doesnt oxidize so ungodly fast.

now where'd I put that 10' pole? :haha:

it's kinda funny watching all the auto crowd get all gaga in recent yrs over a roll and tip job.. like it was sliced bread... we've been doing it on boats for 30+ yrs... air-dried paints can't hold a candle to a catalyzed resin... I freakin hate enamel, sh*t's so soft it ain't funny.... had to play with some today as a matter of fact..

4500 would be a reasonable deal i would say.. by the time you buy primer, possibly sealer, base, clear, hardener you can EASILY spend a grand... whoever would paint a car for $1300 is desperate for work, or nuts.... i was charging 2 g's, 2500 out of my house 15 yrs ago...

Expensive no doubt! For my $3,500 truck, I'm now at $11,000.......and no paint job yet!

I'll keep this truck forever too. Sentemental value so a decent paint job is important. :waytogo:

Glad I'm not the only one in the same boat. Your figures are pretty close to mine.

I paid $4500 last winter for a two color job. No rust repair, but had him remove all the trim and badges and filled all the holes(50+/-). I thought that was a very fair price.

It was originally $10k but we (wife and I) agreed to a new dash, inst. bezel and shocks. Brought it up to $11k.

Thanks Dave Ramsey! :waytogo:

You are still only near a third of the cost of a new SUV and I bet it's paid for...

thanks for all the responses guys
I have come to a conclusion...
I have spent almost $7500 on the truck right now and it will be going into the shop to be painted April 1st
Since it is going to take him 3 weeks to a month to finish there is no point in putting it in the shop to sit now and then go straight into winter storage

Thats what im thinking on my burb. One part of me says its retarded to want to dump around 10g's into an old truck but then i think, after 10'gs its going to out last something that i could easily pay 30+k for! And the sentimental value/pleasure to drive will be ever so very worth it.

I completely agree i will be in just about 12K and when its done it will be 100% what I want
I paid 24K for my Nissan Murano in 2006 and it was 3 years old and had 34000 miles on it
I think I will be more happy with the Jimmy :)
