OK 1988 Chevrolet K5

where I am at prices are all over the place; I see ones without a motor or transmission and people are asking more. I've seen some with more rust asking for more. just got to find that certain person or decide how much of a loss I am willing to take.

I've always been known as the guy with a lot of vehicles and now that I retired and cut my pay by 2/3 I am trying to come to the realization that I will probably never get around to all these projects. my 91 K5 my kids will be selling it. I don't plan on getting rid of it. then I have this one to sell; then I have a 76 that is rusty that I bought with the transmission bad in it. I kinda want to fix it as I have so many parts, but I argue with myself that I could just sell the parts as well.
I didn't say there aren't people here listing trucks for tens of thousands, they just don't move.
Some have been relisted every month for more than a year

My take on pricing: if you get 100s of messages, you are priced too low, if you get zero messages you are priced too high. If you get 1-2 messages of people wanting to look at it, you priced it in the ballpark. The goal, assuming you are not in a hurry, should be to start a bit high and bring the price down a little at a time until you start getting in the 1-2 messages wanting to look at it range.

I like to run an ad for 1-2 weeks at a price, if no interest, drop the price 5% and write a new ad with new pics (referring to Marketplace). Always include 20 pics and one video for Marketplace. Highlight the good and the bad in those pics.

Looking at the pics you have, I would strongly suggest breaking out the pressure washer and cleaning this thing, inside and out. Then get new pics after it dries.

to be honest I have been in a money crunch for the past few months; however after the first of the year I shouldn't have to make 2 house payments with utilities on both. so my plan then is to pull the plugs, shoot some Marvel in the holes and turn it over a few times. then try to fire it up and see if I can get it running. I feel that should make a big difference on selling it.

thanks Kenny; you probably have more experience on selling than I do. I've had people message asking if I would take X for it. I say yes and never hear from them again. SMH

Proving a vehicle will run, even if it is only around your yard onto the trailer is a big difference between a $1500 value and $3500 value on a K5.

I don't respond to people that make offers without looking at a vehicle first. They are all flakes that will never follow through. I actually put a statement at the beginning of any vehicle ad that I will only negotiate in person. That means if someone has to have a vehicle shipped, the price is FIRM. I'm happy to coordinate for pickup, but that is extra time compared to a buyer showing up in person.

I listed a dirt bike on marketplace for what I thought was on the lower end of the ball park $$ wise but id still be ok on selling at the listing price. It could use some more work but runs/drives now. Ive got tons of messages but not a single person has actually met up with me. Even though roughly 8 of them say they want it now etc. I hate selling on marketplace...

Despite getting a ton of dirt poor, broke flakes, it at least sounds like your price is in a good place.
