1988 gmc 2500 overland build

Finally got my driver side battery tray and installed it yesterdayView attachment 374065
Now to modify it to fit my big ass 2nd batteryView attachment 374066
This is probably not what you’re looking for, but I fabbed a tie down out of scrap for my large second battery, and put a piece of 1/2” ply as a standoff so the battery isn’t resting on the lip of the tray. For lateral security I put some Velcro between the wood and battery. It’s very secure.0A0F60EB-B5FC-40ED-83A7-C0E825DF6DA2.jpeg

I was actually cutting plywood last night to try this out today. Thanks for the picture. I think im going to have to dent the fender too. My battery hangs over about 2"

Very nice. I did mine much the same, but with 4x4 plates using 4 5/16 stainless screws and Rivnuts using heavy backer washers inside. I ordered 1/8" silicone sheet to make the gaskets with.

And here's another related thought. I've never run a Sub before, but I hear that the rear defectors are very nice to have to reduce the dust collection on the back glass. And I see you have one like mine did. But they are frail little things, and little more than a twig will likely remove it. So, I incorporated a steel deflector based on the OEM unit (size/angle/position) with my roof rails. If I don't get stupid with it, it should handle anything I'm comfortable with sliding under with no damage. Good luck!

I have an alpha roof top tent going on the rack. It is huge if i hit the spoiler with that on top im going to be in trouble

Finally took my truck to my mechanic to check out the miss and i have low compression in 1 of the cylinders. Looks like its time for a new longblock

Do you guys have recommendations where to get the cheapest most reliable longblock? So far atk and j and s engines are the 2 i can find reasonably priced

Got my new dash today after waiting almost 4 months. Its from usa1. Looks great and the passenger side fits great but the dash doesnt fit great around the gauges. Its going to require more trimming but i had to get it put back together20210518_193729.jpg20210518_193724.jpg20210518_192457.jpg

Looks good. Is that one of the hard plastic cover shells, or a full replacement soft vinyl dash? Looks like a full dash, but didn't expect that would need trimming to fit.

Of course, I don't know anything about such things. I'm far too cheap to pay for a full dash, and most likely to throw a rug on my AZ baked and broken dash.

Its their full dash. I had to trim around the openings for the defroster vents and i think theres some to trimming to do around the gauges to get it to set down better

I did have 1 little problem over the weekend. When i installed my ORD bumper i didnt realize that it was hitting my trans cooler inlet and outlet. It actually bent them and with the flexing this weekend it cracked one of the tubes.
