1988 K5 4 Speed

Boring post. Rear window bottom channel rusted out so I had to take it all apart. Replaced the channel the window sits in, both left and right channels, inner and out window seals and greased everything. Found a new aftermarket switch to fix the window control for the tailgate from the outside. Doesn’t look OEM but it was cheap and it works. It’s hard to find the oem switch and they’re very expensive. Also got new window seals for doors. Man that stuff is expensive too.

Got a better dash than I had with that truck I bought and sold for parts.

Added some 1.5” spacers to try and even out the foot print. Looks better in my opinion.

I hate the narrow rear ends on the 1/2 ton squares.

Not saying it doesn't look better, but it's not an accident.. GM did it for a reason.
The wheels on the front being wider allows the vehicle to track better.

As a side effect I've noticed off road sometimes it's nice to have the rear tires inwards and on "fresh" dirt. So to speak.

Yeah I’ve heard all kinds of reasons why on FB lol. I always thought it was just GM using what they had the most of in stock pile or what was cheapest to produce.

Gm wasn't the only one to do it. Not sure if Ford did it. But dodge did it as well.

And yes there are bunch of idiot reasons on why they are out there. All kinds of stupid reasons, like driveshaft clearance or rear bedside width. But it's not just squares that the wider front track wide applys to. That how I figure I know the tracking theory is correct.

Actually the French went further with the citroen DS series, the rear outer edge lines up with the inside of the front tires.

Holy shit that's a lot of money for a K5! I should just put my half ton axles back under mine and put it back to stock and sell it to them. Pretty sure my 6.2L has correct mileage at like 67k on the odometer and it's fully loaded.
Not only it's a regular k5, but he says nice interior but both bucket seats are ripped.
The whole truck is a 5/10 maybe. $5000 max.
People are crazy
