and back off one more time for paint. Im really impressed with how well the rustoleum hammered line of paint holds up- thats what is on the wheels in these photos, and i pulled the same cans out for the bumper (all though i really liked the way it looked raw!)
-couple of light coats quickly, and then after its good and tacked, one more heavy coat. When Ive done smaller parts, they go in the oven at 200 degrees after the heavy coat tacks up - leave em in there 30-45 min, and then let cool. the next day the stuff is so hard it might as well be powder coated - very chip and scratch resistant.
My kitchen oven was not big enough to get the bumper into it, so I had to let it cure and dry on the trash can bench, but it held up fairly well over the last 10 years. will eventually get another coat, or come off for powder coating. we shall see.
