1989 Chevy K5 Silverado - Round 2

What happened with the 3/4 ton? I must have missed that.

Looks like a great truck to start with. one of these days Ill have to go out west and get one that isnt rusted away like everything here.

My FIL totaled my K20 so it donated some parts to this project. The rest I sold off to buy the new K5.

Whenever your ready to get a nice truck just let me know what your looking for... I have sent a lot of rust free metal East over the years.

Sorry to hear that, hope nobody got hurt.

Thanks for the offer, Ill have to start looking out there next year when Im done with school.

I made some progress this afternoon. The front springs, bushings and shocks are now installed and setting back on the ground with 2 tires.

Tomorrow I turn my attention on the 14FF, shaving the bottom lip and installing a Detroit.

I will also need to locate the proper radiator and hold down brackets before I start driving this thing...

I would buy the correct radiator for the brackets that are already there. This way YOU KNOW the cooling system is new AND a larger radiator to boot.

That is basically what I was saying... but I am going to replace the brackets and fan shroud at the same time since most of the plastic looks like crap.

Today I sold the rear 10 bolt and I am currently installing the detroit in the 14FF. Torquing the ring gear bolts was fun, but I found a good way to get it done on my own with an extra breaker bar and will post some pics later. I'm finding it fun to type since I sliced off a small chunk on one finger tip :doah:

Here is a pic of torquing the ring gear bolts after installing the Detroit. I found it easiest if the torque wrench was on the bolt opposite of the breaker bar.
