It currently suffers from a surging idle. The seller had the MAP sensor unplugged which stabilized it a lot, but probably just forced it into the open loop program. So I have some troubleshooting to do this weekend.

I replaced the fuel filter and coolant temp sensor just for preventative maintenance. No change in idle.

I pulled the TBI to inspect the base gasket, therfore it was damaged from checking it. I found a split vacuum cap and damaged fuel return line o-ring. So I grabbed a TBI rebuild kit since it was in stock and had what I needed rather than waiting a day for the base gasket to be ordered in. Still no change with all that fixed.

Last week, the motor was surging very bad after putting it all back together.

I moved the burb out to work on something else while I waited in a couple parts and thought about the surging issue a bit. Today, it would not start parked with the nose parked up hill on a slight incline. I checked if it would run on starting fluid, and it did. So, either the half full gauge is wrong and it is out of gas, or the new fuel pump the PO said was installed is dead. So I added 2 gallons of gas and...

With high temps in the upper 90s today, I was looking for a small job I could do while standing in front of the shop fan. So I started replacing the barn door seals. I found all the rust hiding under the bottom of the seals. Time to sell...

Just kidding. Treated that with Rust Mort. No one will hear from me again if I try to sell this one. But, my wife did order a booster plate for the front and I installed that, the rear plate now that it is titled, and the plate frames my wife ordered.

Not thrilled with that plate number.
How did those seals fit, something I should to mine.

My wife gets a kick out of disturbing religious types...

The seals fit great. If you want to order them, call Jon Addington at Mister A's:

Tonight was a good step in the right direction. It was running smoother but would bog under acceleration. I cleaned the spark plugs and replaced the MAP sensor and it woke up again and has power to accelerate again.

However, I took it down the road on a short test drive to find the front driver side caliper is hanging up and was smoking pulling back into the shop. Rotor is likely toast now. Need calipers, pads, rotors, and fresh rubber hoses. The front springs and shocks are also about done. So, the next step will likely be 2" springs, rebuild brakes, new shocks, etc.

Tearing into the brakes on the V1500 Suburban. One caliper was stuck, one was hanging up. I've also discovered it needs ball joints as well while I'm in here... so I should order wheel bearings, axle shaft u-joints, new lockouts, etc while I'm at it. #maw

I also pulled the grill to clean the mouse nest out from in between the oil cooler and AC condenser and replaced the oxygen sensor and spark plugs.
