I wish I had a gopro. I can borrow one for ya though:D

I started scraping the valley and the sludge was 1/4 thick or more. Not gonna scrape anymore till I get the heads off.

The inside of the valve covers had zero sludge or deposits and same thing for the head so far. Just black as night like any diesel would be

I'm getting a little confused. This is a 6.5 engine, right? I haven't met one with the 6.2 vacuum pump before (that should be where the fuel filter goes). :dunno:

Or are you mixing and matching parts already?

Nope this is a 6.2

6.5 is going in the crew cab until I can afford 6.6 in which case the 6.2 in the Jimmy will have been replaced by the 5.3 and the 5.7 in Horton will be a 7.4

Geez Ethan try to keep up

Why tear it down? Everyone knows they are forged from angel tears and alloyed with unicorn horn to form the strongest, bestest, engine ever. They will tolerate 40psi in stock form and with a simple cam swap make 1500hp. Leave them together like the assembly gods at GM left them. Move along, no improvements to see here.

I want a 6.X to tear down. I've never been in one.

They look pretty much like other V8 engines. Pistons, conrods, valves, etc. Aside from fuel delivery and the prechambers in the head you'd recognize all of the parts.

Or you could go watch the GM service video that was posted on here twice in the last few weeks, where a gentle television voice will assure you that you'll recognize the parts (though they aren't even slightly kinda borrowed from any other engine design). :deal:

Bwahahaha. :haha:

I need to get one of those cams. :rotfl:

:haha: I chuckled at this and shared it with Wifey. When I got to the "try to keep up" part, she quoted this confusing passage from a favorite Dr. Suess book:

:haha:

For those not familiar with "Fox in Socks," it is a collection of tongue twisters designed to be hard to keep up with (try reading this passage quickly, it is one of the easy ones). Great way to get your kids to laugh. :thumb:

I'm also starting to wonder...do 6.5 blocks have the hole in the back for the vacuum pump? I can't remember now, and I don't have a 6.5 to look at.
