1989 K5 Blazer

2012-10-11_18-48-09_365.jpg

Body mount are going in. Got the fronts and the 4 cab mounts out but one. The bolt broke and left half of the bolt still threaded in the nut welded in the frame. Of course its boxed in so going to have to drill a hole in the floor then drill it out. Any other ideas?

Dana 44 with 4.88s and lock right locker is under the truck and all ready to go. Time to start the rear gear swap now.

Yep got them in the mail today, Ill get some pictures later. I went with the pre 99 caps

Truck is back together, took it to tuttle yesterday. Very happy with the 4.88s. Paul drove it home since i had to haul the yota, said he ran OD at 65mph running up and down hills coming out of KS.
The front lock right in the D44 also impressed me, nothing broke yet! Front locker makes all the difference in offroading. Gov-lock is not so impressive anymore. Rear locker is next on the list.

Body mounts?

Martin

Was able to get 3 cab mounts since one broke, still need to drill it out. The front 2 were in but the hole in the frame horn is bored from the old rotten mounts moving around. Ended up poping out the front right one, have to use a bigger washer i guess

This is now my Daily Driver as i handed off the Duramax to a good friend.
Put a stock suburban bumper on it last week. Looks 10x better

Then off course since its my daily it had to break. Popped a u joint while i was crossing the creek out at the farm. Was in a tough spot as i was and had to keep it 3wd to get out so i destroyed my RH outer shaft. This was my weak link and now will have to be upgraded

Time for a chrome moly short inner and outer and a heavier u joint

I thought that axle already had high dollar axle shafts.

Martin

Has a chrome moly long shaft the short was broke when i got it and i threw in a junkyard pullout, didnt last very long

I have another extra outer i could just throw a new u joint in and run it

Also got these laser cut so its about time to start the bumper

It really does good. Drives like stock down the road. Honestly the 700r4 would probably feel healthier with a little steeper gears, Still dont use OD much unless im cruising over 65mph. Seems pretty low in 4low though and i absolutlly love having a front locker. Dont think i would ever want to be with out one again.

Spinning in the snow today the lock right really impressed me, Gov lock is nothing to complain about either

I think we told you to get a locker a long time ago. My k10 with 4.10s really doesn't need OD till 60ish.
