1989 Toyota 4Runner

Building the truck my friend won’t be able to

They had my custom cables built and shipped inside of 24hrs. Even put a 90* connector on a couple of them for me even though it wasn’t an option when I ordered. I run their 0ga stuff on the blazer. It’s nearly as bendable as cooked spaghetti. I highly recommend them.

All new cables are in and she starts faster and harder than it ever has. Hopefully this will buy me some time before having to buy a new starter.
If the Yota starter is just having initial intermittent contact issues and not slow turning over symptoms there is a nice trick to them Yota starters - there is a contact spade from the solenoid that gets worn out but it’s reversible. Swap it end for end and you’re good for the remainder of that armature and brush life.
Gotta love them Yota’s !

Good to know. The solenoid itself has always been able to fire since I got it running. It’s the starter motor that’s had issues.

Decided to chance it and take the top off. Came off with a little prying on it since the gasket had glued itself to the body. Was concerned there may be rust under it but not a single speck. Also cleaned the interior up some to get the grime off. Going to order a carpet kit and window seal kit for it and then next paycheck a gasket set for the top.IMG_2156.jpeg

That was the goal. Revive it and get it back on the road to honor my friend. Honestly at this point it’s just break fix type stuff with it. My next big adventure is going to be the timing chain because no clue when or if it’s ever been done. Need to pull the valve cover and take a peak and lash the valves but that’ll probably break every vacuum line on this thing which will lead me down lots of rabbit holes.

New Aisian clutch master, slave, and rubber line replaced and fluid power bled. Feels so much nicer. I think someone touched this before because the top nut going into the rubber line had red lock tite on it and there were lots of new words created.IMG_2182.jpeg

Anyone know what this is for? Came with the master but not a clue what it is. IMG_2180.jpeg

Looks like a thin mint!

Regarding the clutch master, did it come with a new lid gasket too? That piece should go inside the rubber lid gasket IIRC.
