1990 K5 Duramax Blazer (BroDozer)

LB7 Duramax and Allison 1000 5 speed in a 1990 Chevy K5 Blazer
Knowing how tight the up pipes and downpipe are on stock d-max equipped trucks it sure don't look like there is a lot of room for either on the Blazer.

The driver side head looks like it's right at the firewall from the angle of your pic.

Good progress though.
Twins would solve the downpipe issue!

No kidding.

That being said I have zero desire to do a dmax swap. But I am curious how he's going to work around the packaging of all the needed stuff.

I can say this at least we aren't watching a thread about body swapping a Blazer body onto a shortened gmt800 chassis, IFS and all.

This was definitely a concern but I am feeling a lot better about it as it appears I have over 6 inches of room back there. And I can buy another 1” easy buy cutting into the firewall flange. I will know more when I get the engine cleaned and mounted back in there more permanently.

Thanks guys! The encouragement helps motivate me in the little free time I have. Made a little progress on a frame repair today. Black piece is what the frame use to look like there. Not sure why but it looked ugly and uneven so I cut it out and welded in a new piece. Then decided to break my finger. Nothing bad but enough to stop progress on the truck for the day.

Bust finger is no fun.

Your repair looks nice.
That black piece was the way it was? Maybe cut for headers?

Ya the black piece is laid right on top of where I cut it from. I forgot to get a before picture. It is right next to where the steering box mount is. The welds to the right are where I welded the brace plate for the steering box.

Ah well the cut for headers I was thinking was way out then. Lol!

Made a little progress but nothing worth posting about. Just clean up and prep for paint. Project still on hold for me with other life events for the month of august but hope to be back at it soon.

Hey it is what it is. I've had my truck for 7 years and it's basically still stock. Take your time, don't let something that's supposed to be enjoyable stress you out.

Mines been down for two months because I can’t get the time to put the plugs and wires back in and time it. We get the slow progress.

I need to frame that and hang it all the wall in the garage! haha
Haha I need to take my own advice. I've learned that, however much it pisses me off sometimes, I really only get stressed when I have a deadline hanging over my head. Other than that I get it out of my system by cussing at whatever I'm working at :haha:

Well, have not had much time to work on the truck at all. Busy with work, the house and it was my turn to catch the COVID's so that put me down for a bit. Did manage to get the engine on the stand and tear the heads off.
