1990 K5 - The Dent Side K5

90 K5 Blazer on tons and 37’s
I turned around and you killed it, completely missed it!

So now that everything is reopening, car shows are a thing again. My dad wants to do one this weekend for fathers day. I am in the middle of an engine rebuild on the Chevelle so I guess that means the K5 is going to be entered instead :D

Tempted to leave it dirty from the trip and just air up the tires. My pops says I should probably wash it out of respect and make it seem like I tried.

Some updates:
I’ve been fighting a leak in one of the AN fittings for a return line for the hydro assist at the bulkhead that goes through the core support. I initially thought i over tightened it and ruined the taper. I replaced both the bulkhead and the fitting and it still leaks. So I am going to try one of the Earls conical seats and hope that works.

I’ve been tinkering on my Chevelle a bit. What started off as doing a couple things on the engine ended up being a 509 crate motor on order from BluePrint and a Holley Sniper Stealth system. Both of those are on back order currently though so the wait is on! It gives me time to tinker on the 496 a bit.

Things have been busy! I know it’s not Blazer related but the new crate motor for the Chevelle showed up and man this thing should party. I’m trying to make it look as stock as possible so i painted the aluminum heads and all the performance goodies. I’m going to give the sniper EFI stuff a shot and see how that goes.

I did manage to get one of the 40’s on though… so excited to go wheeling again. 7156FB04-BBB3-4B34-AF57-B18810B93D64.jpeg

Chevelle talk is always welcome especially with those #'s. That is a good looking 40" I am not familiar with the brand, I like the tread design!
Thanks! I’m pretty sure they are a cheap China made tire but they were practically free. My Toyo’s were close to being so past their lifespan with 60k miles and a couple wheeling trips on them between the Ram and the Blazer so these 40’s came at a great time.

It’s been a while! The Chevelle is all back together and I got the sniper EFI sorted. A major pain in the butt, definitely not as easy as advertised for tuning. It was definitely worth it though, it runs absolutely incredible now.

I also finished putting the 40’s on the K5

I recently ordered ORD’s front 4 link kit with Fox coilovers and air bumps. Also planning on doing a brand new cage, rear bumper, and vintage air kit. Hoping it’s all done by June.

This K5 is about to get as much pipe as Maegan Hall!

1-3/4”x.120 DOM to redo the cage, build the rear bumper (using Four By Designs Beta as the starting point), and adding some cross members.

Also ordered Deulings front and rear frame plates and cage plates.

Everything but the ORD 4 link kit and the rear seat from PRP should be showing up next week. Both of those are expected around the end of February.

I traded a good buddy of mine a dirt bike for some fab work. He has the old cage out but left the seat cradle in for now so he can move it around. The new one is going in. Really happy with how it’s coming out so far.

He left the A pillar out of the dash area to make sure there was plenty of room for the vintage air kit and to leave options open to tie it into the engine cage for the coilovers.

I bought the vintage air kit. I’ve always wanted to try one and figured this was a great excuse
