1991 V2500 Suburban... *pictures!*

Hit the unlock button a few times from the drivers side. See if it opens.

Mine always does that....Try using the key, and before turning it back push on the button some for the resistance. Move the key to the position where you can pull it out, mantaining pressure on the button, and see if that will get it to open.

If that makes any sense.

Works on mine. I haven't tried a more permanent fix yet....

x2 Same for mine.

I fiddled with it some today and didn't have any luck... I'll take it apart tomorrow and see if I can pop it. Hopefully it's not the latch assy but we'll see.

Going to change the oil and was wondering about switching to synthetic(Mobil 1 more specifically since I can get it anywhere). The owners manual says to use 5w30 unless doing heavy duty hauling or the like(which I won't be), so I plan to stick with that. With Mobil 1 and a K&N Gold filter, what sort of oil change interval should I be looking at? The vehicle will be driven roughly 200 miles a week without much stopping and going or short trips.

For your barn door issue, try having someone put a lot of pressure on the left edge of the right door. There aren't any wires runing throught the door to make a positive connection, but a set of brass contacts(one on the body one on the door) that sometimes loose their conection(mine does this sometimes too). You might have trouble locking it as well if this is the problem

Nope, just a cross member.. my Blazer is the same way. Most of whats hanging down in that first pic is the Y pipe..

Ended up with Royal Purple for $6.99/qt. The engine is bone dry underneath and all around, only leak I found was from whoever the last idiot was that put the oil filter on, they didn't get it tight at all and it was dripping.

I also discovered that it does not have a cat :eek1: Surprised I missed that the first time.. doesn't matter, I'm exempt from DEQ at least. Guess it would explain why it is fairly loud. From the y pipe back is all new exhaust, 3" to what looks and sounds like a Flowmaster(with 3" in and 3" out).

First tank through it, got 11mpg but I'm pretty sure what was a combination of a well over due air filter, fuel filter, old gas, and my heavy foot  According to the PO he hasn't filled it up since October.

11 mpg sounds right. Soooooooo many claim 16-18. All L*ars... My 6.2 TH400 4.10's gets 11-14mpg. With 700 got 18.2 in California. Havn't used it here. Waiting for spring thaw...

You are really into YouTube :D

I'll be happy if the mileage remains in the 10-12MPG range.. like I said, the first tank I drove it I was goofing around a bit. Amazing that such a heavy vehicle can get up to 90 so fast :D

I have gotten 16mpg's out of mine, 2 lane with few stops. I had to drive like such a grandpa to get that I don't do it very often....

I actually have a FULL time job, lately 12+ hours a day. Start at 8:30, end 9-9:30 PM. This wknd I worked 'till 9:30 in a basement repairing a broken sewer pipe. I'm uoloading a vid of it now. tommorow I'm installing new beams. Vid of that too! LOL...
The vids just take a minute. The other guys an da job laugh behind my back, but it's worth the brief interruption. Then we play the vid back, it's a 5 minute break. I load them late at night. Takes 30 minutes or so.
It's definitely becom e an obssesion. Takes far longer to answer all the questions and comments than ta make the vids... Andrew

OKay, now here's a dumb problem..

I went to open the barn doors to take a look at the spare and rear seat.. and they won't open. They worked earlier today :doah:Doors are unlocked.. but when I go to push the button on the latch there is little resistance(Don't feel it unlatching) and the key doesn't seem to help with anything
I've been going through the exact issue on my '91 burb. There's a plate that slides up and down, and it's stuck in the down position. It needs to slide back up before the door latch button can push on the plate, and release the latch. Right now, your button isn't pushing anything at all. I took the panel off mine that last time I got it open, so I can manually operate it from inside, in case it gets stuck again.

What usually got it open for me, was kicking at the lock area while somebody hit the unlock button over and over. Or, you can put the key in, turn all the way clockwise, then pry down on the key. There's a bunch of play in everything, if you pry your key down, it helps pry up on the internals just a tad bit more, it's enough to make the difference usually.

I took it up in the snow last night around Larch Mountain with a friend.. we had a blast. :D For what little traction it had, it made up for it in brute force. In places where I know my Ranger wouldn't have made it(and it's got better tires) the Burb charged right on through :D

Todays project will be fixing the door and taking the running boards off. Unfortunately these ones are screwed into the bottom edge of the rocker panels

it seems they all are on these old models. i put bolts through the holes with some rtv to prevent rust forming there. i also took the rear support (the aluminum piece and put them behind the wheels for mud flaps. had to drill a little bit.

Thats what I was figuring to do.. not sure if I'll run flaps though. They are "required" in Washington but with a stock truck the cops leave you alone, at least around here.

Who knows, haha. Took the running boards off.. looks 10x better easy. Got some stainless 1/4" bolts I'm going to put in(with RTV as you suggested).

Figured out the door too... the arm on the lock cylinder that engages the plate for the handle is not turning the plate far enough for the rod on the hand to engage it. I cleaned it up real good and it works better but is not 100%. I think the problem is lubrication...
