1991 v3500 - big dumb lifted forever truck

I wanna say it’s the cylinder head. Seems that best I can recall to be where mine is on my burb. The other temp on the intake is for the tbi reading for intake temp

It's a regular 60/70 cover. I just noticed the spring pad machine work relative to the diff cover is not perpendicular. This makes for a pretty low pinion angle relative to the housing like GM. It also might have something to do with not fitting.

Ok, just wondering.

I have a diy4x cover that I bought for my Jana 76 conversion D60 and it would not fit. Mine was like yours, it hit the ring gear and had maybe a 1/4" gap. I asked Kert about making a deeper version to clear the ring but he just said "it really isn't do-able" (?). After that I tried putting it on my rear 70 but the bolt pattern didn't line up on the bottom holes, it's still sitting where it landed in the back corner of the shop after I threw it.

Just poking around different forums I think a Ruff Stuff cover might be a little deeper but I don't really care for the company and I'm definitely not gambling another $100. :surepal:

To clarify, I worded my original question poorly - what brand of cover? Is the axle the custom D70 or a regular D60 (with 60 gears)?

Ah gotcha. It's a Dana 70 housing with a 60 cover. Didn't think to look at the bolt holes. I have diy on both diffs of the blazer so I think it's just my particular housing.

As you know, the same cover should fit a 60 or 70. I just figured my issue was the larger ringer sticking out more, this is why I never said anything to Kert. Way later I tried it on my rear axle and, while it did clear the rear 70 gear, the bottom hole or 2 were off so I tossed it aside.

why not add in a spacer ring ? just the flange and no center ? i am sure kirt @ diy4x would make just the ring . just need to make sure lock to lock the tie rod clears . as i know with no spacer ring there tight on these covers .

Crossed my mind. That's just another leak waiting to happen imo. I truly haven't fully diagnosed it yet. Just saw it didn't bolt up and went to get some lunch.

So I had to have missed something.
Where or what did the dana70 front come out of?

I don't know when I got it, maybe a year ago. Came from a 72 dodge that was like 20 miles from me. Turns out it was from a buddy from my early days.
It was closed knuckle from a w250. One year option 70 front and a 60 rear lol.
I also had some 70f inner knuckles from a piece of equipment. Put a Detroit in the two piece case and geared it to 3.73.
Pretty excited about this.
