1991 v3500 - big dumb lifted forever truck

Some cool stuff on my work bench tonight. I have some NOS Dana 60 knuckles coming tomorrow also for this front axle build.

Rear Detroit on left and front Detroit on right.
I have the wrong case break on the rear by 100 thou. Anyone with experience in this think about shaving .100 off the ring gear face and essentially converting it to a 4.10 3 series case? I mean why not right?

Alternatively i can shave the ring side race and put a giant shim on the other side to scoot it all over .100.

Really like your truck! Especially what you did to restore the interior back to original as possible with what’s available. Good inspiration i just bought an ‘89 V3500 drw crew, pretty clean old man truck, but itll stay stock for the most part. Level the front and maybe a gear vendors. Bout it! Subscribed.

Love this build, just read the entire thing. Building my dream truck right there! You are definitely dropping some coin for a top quality build thats for sure. Ive considered picking up an 80, they pop up on CL every now and then.

Were you saying the ground clearance is better with the 80 vs 70 rear?

What was that front 70 out of?

Thanks guys!

I am trying to build the best thing that I can build. I think the ground clearance talk was about 60 and 70 and putting the 70 in the blazer to wheel. It's just far too large. The 80 is just silly on housing size. Its 72" wide as is too! The 70f came from a 72 dodge w200. That truck had a 70f and a 60 rear lol.

It came with a bw4447. Not sure what to do with it yet. Still pretty new but it's from a 3500 so it will probably swap in place of a 271 really easily.
