1991 v3500 - big dumb lifted forever truck

If I turn off the traction control in my wife's Impala I can spin the fronts. No parking brake needed. Has more hp then his 280 thou

I've rented a couple of those, they lay tire and scoot pretty good.
 
Hows come people drive all these new cars with more horsepower and they still can't accelerate up to speed on the interstate on-ramps.
You obviously never followed me... Well at least when I'm not driving the my dump truck.
 
Ok, just wondering.

I have a diy4x cover that I bought for my Jana 76 conversion D60 and it would not fit. Mine was like yours, it hit the ring gear and had maybe a 1/4" gap. I asked Kert about making a deeper version to clear the ring but he just said "it really isn't do-able" (?). After that I tried putting it on my rear 70 but the bolt pattern didn't line up on the bottom holes, it's still sitting where it landed in the back corner of the shop after I threw it.

Just poking around different forums I think a Ruff Stuff cover might be a little deeper but I don't really care for the company and I'm definitely not gambling another $100. :surepal:

Got room for a spacer ring between the cover & diff housing?
 
@Big Ray he didnt need to . and if he did the tie rod would hit or need offset tie rod ends .

Good catch! Last time I founf a random ring I discovered I did not put the separator ring between the front rollers.

Yes, I have plenty of room as I have high steer. Thought about doubling up on the flange rings but I’m afraid it would leak. I asked Kert at Diy4x about making an extra thick flange but he said no.
 
FINALLY picked up this set of low back pickup buckets. 77 k20 custom deluxe with buckets. Strange truck. Truck has been in the same junkyard since the late 90s.
These are rough but now I got to figure out what to do to put them in my 91.

These bolt into a single cab though. Isnt a crew cab floor different?
 
HUse your crew sliders and make 1x1 square tube frame . Bolt seats to that . Also adds little seat lift .

I would post pics but on tablet . Pics on shop computer . Will do in Am if you don't find in the build thread .

I put suburban buckets in my regular cab. With the suburban sliders. I also had blazer buckets in with suburban sliders.
I don't think there is enough headroom in these trucks as it is, so depending on your height you might want to refrain from adding a 1 inch lift. Not sure what Brett's height is but I'm 6 -2 and a higher seat would be no bueno.

I also have a set of those low back seats. I also looked for a long time to find them and mine appear to be in better shape. Honestly after sitting in them in the truck I didn't find them to be that comfortable. And the upholstery cost was high enough that I didn't think it was worth it to have them reupholstered. My O2, get some high back suburban seats, much better.

Short answer is they are close, the suburban and crew cabs have the same front floor pan , the regular cabs and the rear of the crew cab are similar but the mounting for the rear seats on a crew cab is just a little different.

Some people really like the high back burb seats , I myself prefer the low backs but they are hard to find.

I had to bend the suburban sliders to fit in the regular car. But all in all it's really a super f'n easy thing. If you can't handle it you shouldn't be messing with old trucks type of easy.

If shipping wouldn't be such a killer I would part with my low backs. With the price of these procar buckets it doesn't really make alot of sense to spend 350 a seat for reupholstery. Although I am thinking they might be ok in one of my Studebakers.

I don’t need to bend brackets I have the right ones lol.

At this point I have always retained the bench seats in my regular cabs but I have the the parts to do it if I want.

I have converted many crew cabs and bench seat burbs to buckets using factory brackets.

Some of us want the stock seats , I am not a fan of seats swaps they never look right or match the rest of the interior.

I’m not sure if you have tried those procar seats , but we have up here in a few of the different rigs and they don’t hold up . Might be fine for a 5’-9” 165 lbs guy but if you are 6ft 200+ you might want to consider something else. They are uncomfortable and they break easily.
