1991 v3500 - big dumb lifted forever truck

Damn, damn, damn ( just one more cuz it deserves it ) DAMN nice build in every way !
I read this thread like I was watching episodes of Yellowstone - just a damn fine quality build.
Especially the 4K diesel tach instead of the higher RPM ones and the integrated fuel gauge is just da’ sh%t.
The W200/250 (?) D70-F ( B-series I assume ? ) with true D70 inner C’s and a proper older big-trunion D/L equipped split-case diff too, along with OEM Spicer gears - such a nice touch!
And a 5” diameter rear driveshaft plus an 80 out back - very, very cool ( I’m a Dana/Spicer geek myself ).

The only thing that I found wrong in all 30 pages of this great read was way back on page 15 when my Brother ( and note that I am still willing to call him “Brother “ ….) John ( a.k.a. NVRENUF ) posted up that jack’d up highly disturbing video about JIZZ’n in your drawers…. Damn, I felt like tak’n a shower with a Brillo Pad and AJAX after watching that !

Anyway, back to your build; I collected parts for years to build a 92 6BT-VE in a square but never took the time to make it happen and finally ended up trading off the motor this past summer. Ya’ not only stuck with it but are doing a damn fine job of execution and the cool factor on several of your parts is just great - damn nice job !

Been driving it as is. Getting parts for the bucket swap. Grabbed some luxury items yesterday. Glove box courtesy lamp and lighted visor. Cloth with extensions!!! High cotton over here.

Pull handles for above the doors and a solid console with a nasty liner.
Anyone got tips to clean this thing?

Grabbed some raggedy ass 88 burb buckets out of the trash.
Old style reclining with double armrest.
Rethinking the low back because of no armrests.

Still have the 5K tach?

Weighed the k30 at its final weight in hopes to use this for ORD springs.
Before truck weight was 6540 pounds with a small block 4l80e 205 60/14 with the same wheels and tires.

7400 pounds after the Cummins g56 np205 Dana 70/80 swapped in.

That's what a new 1 ton weighs really.

A little while back I found a loose washer inside the bellhousing. Loose washers mean a bolt is out. This is a valair washer no doubt about it.

Not good. Not good at all. The g56 bellhousing is integrated into the case itself and doesn’t just unbolt. If there was a loose bolt there could be an extra speed hole in the trans at any time.

Well I took it to Ryan’s to get the trans pulled and inspected. Ryan found everything was still tight and all bolts were present with loctite. Even pulled the flywheel to get the whole picture.
Just calling this one a fluke where the manufacturer dropped a washer and didn’t retrieve it. It must have fallen out on the first crank or something cause I sure as hell didn’t see it when I installed it.

Been driving the dodge instead which suuuuuuuuucked.

After really looking at this washer I’m pretty sure it never had a bolt through it or was it ever tightened. Which corroborates our story and that helps me sleep better at night.

Have you ever thought about adding a rear dually sway bar? Will it fit the D80 around the diff cover?

Actually I was trying to use the oem dodge rear swaybar that would bolt to the 80 like a factory fit and just make end links but ultimately it would be a pain fitting the shocks. That’s why I cut them off for the gm orientation.
At this point I’m not sure what I’m going to do for a sway bar. Probably have to make my own front spring plates to mimic the gm front sway bar.
That is if I feel like it needs it. Currently I don’t think it does.

These are about 35”

A rear sway bar off of a square body dually should fit if it doesn’t interfere with the cover.

It would probably be fine. But these ubolts are torqued and then there’s airbags on top of em.
That means they are permanent. Might as well have welded em on.

Pics with the skinny’s?

16 months is about what it takes to get parts nowadays
