1993 3/4 Ton Suburban Build (Solid Axle Swap)

The RCD 6" lift in my 98 K3500 has been trouble free for nearly 40k miles (probably just jinx that), tows well and has gotten in an out of places it shouldn't have been with a trailer recovering the Blazer and drives like a really big Cadi.

Only complaints is you can't move the front spindle forward 1" - 1.5" without re-engineering everything and the brakes suck at best.
On my Suburban, I'm thinking 05+ SD axles front and back (they are relatively cheap & plentiful). Would get 4 wheel disk and eliminate front leafs. If it works well, will probably try it on the K3500 too.

@Kay86K5 ...sorry, not trying to hijack your thread, but, if you went this route, figured out the front links and such. I could just copy your build.

I'm just planning on using leaf springs in the front and throwing on a good pair of shocks. Even my V3500 just with bilstein 5125's rides really nice down the road. Also, with this one already having a 14bff in the rear, it's easier to just keep that rear and throw a disc brake swap on it and call it good.

There has been a small part of me that contemplating just keeping the IFS and throwing a standard lift on it...but like I said before, I really want to SAS this thing...I just love the SAS's on these body styles. I guess time will tell and make my decision for me as I look at prices and availability of the parts needed.

Have you considered the ford Dana 50? I know I see them listed locally for around $200 all the time.

I agree, the SAS just has the cool factor to it.
The IFS lift work and a great for most things. Just hate where it leaves the wheel in the wheel well on mine.

Mounted tire is just under 34" and rubs the back of the fender even with the thing cranked up (then it rides like shit).
The rims are 10" w/4.5 bs and I have the same tire mounted to the original steel wheel and it still makes contact.

Plus, I still want better breaks on the front. I used an RCD lift which is a spindle lift. It might be possible to get a set of RCD spindles for 2001-2007 truck and start adapting things.

Yes, I'm looking at all possible axles. My brother brought up the Dana 50 as a possibility as well. Looks like they can be had for cheap too

Yeah, I've noticed that on the IFS lifts too, especially as you get up above 4"+ of lift too.

I am running a 33x12.50x17 on mine. Just the stock 2500. 9inch rim. Rubs just a touch.
You can't run a bigger tire the a 34 with that ifs lift then forget about it.

I'll have my 2" TC EZ rides off my Crew cab here shortly. I'd make you a good deal on those. Practically new.

Are you talking about the phone alert that she gets everytime you spend money?
