1993 3/4 Ton Suburban Build (Solid Axle Swap)

Very nice. Have any before and after ride height measurements with the stockers on?

i might have missed this, is this the new family hauler?

Its my new mild trail wheeler/backup tow rig/snow wheeling rig/hunting rig/grocery getter/whatever else I can think to use it for :D. I’ve always wanted to SAS one of these rigs, and I picked this thing up for so cheap that it was just begging for it, so I couldnt say no, haha

I like this!

Built some shock hoops for the front shocks. I’m not going to weld the tabs on or weld them to the frame until I get my shocks ordered, maybe next week.

ORD sent me the correct length U bolts for the rear, so the rear is now buttoned up. I also hooked up all the new brake lines, just need to bleed the brakes. I ordered a new tranny shifter and will install that next week. After all that, it should just be redo the front shaft, and exhaust and it should be back on the road. So getting there

You know a good way to fix that tranny shifter linkage issue. It just hit me the other day.

Full on NV4500 swap. :)

Yeah, its a pretty easy swap as I did a NV4500 swap on my V3500. Luckily my 4l80e shifts real good so it hopefully will last a while. The shifter upgrade isnt that big of a deal looking at the big picture

Very nice. I’ve been excited for this build just because it’s the closest solid axle burb to what I’ve been planning in my head. Glad to finally see it on some meat.

What’s the overall lift? 5” front and back?

Thank you!

Yes, overall should be right at 5" of lift. Front ORD sas brackets (which give you 3" of lift and move the axle forward 1") with 2" lift Tuff Country EZ rides. Rear is a 4" shackle flip with 5" DIY4x shackles (supposedly each inch longer shackle you go will net you 1/2" of lift) along with an EZ inch in the rear too. So the rear might be 5.5" of lift, but mine sagged just a little bit in the rear when I bought it. So with the rear how I did it, it sits pretty much exactly level with the front now

Gotcha. I wasn’t sure if you used any zero rate in the front and what the 5” rear shackle got you.

Does the crossover look good clearance wise in the front ?

Mines going to end up with a 44 up front so I don’t know how close I’ll be cutting it on the crossover part.

No EZ inch in the front, just springs. Just have the EZ inch in the back

Crossover looks real good. Should have good clearance with the frame when the passenger wheel is stuffed. Like I mentioned before, I'm not sure you could go much lower with crossover on these and not have clearance issues during articulation. If my draglink still gets a little close when I flex it out, I'll just install some bump stops

Good to know.

I’d bet Your front end will likely settle some of those springs haven’t had much constant weight or use on them. I know one of my trucks did that.

I’m eager to hear how you like the ez rides under that big block.
I’ve been back and forth between them or the HD’s or just going ORD custom all the way around if I decide to not do the shackle flip.
