1997 Bayliner Capri SS 2350 454ci- Floor done, now to bust out that other thousand…

You also did prop change ? Hard to know if props that came with boat were correct. I'd call Mercruiser or bayliner and see what the oem props were. thunder bolt IV tells me you have Mercruiser. Some 97 tb 4 had a "overspeed" assembly, on the Merc/racing Blue engines. not sure if it's adjustable. Very little info I guess it was an option.
I did not do a prop change. I just had them redone. They were bent and out of balance.

Did a compression test on the cylinders yesterday just to ease my mind.

So I have basically narrowed it down to either fuel or spark. Leaving tomorrow for a week at the lake, so plenty of time to tinker with the carb to see if I can narrow it down.

How fast does it come out of the hole? Trim it all the way down, at idle in gear and punch it and count (one thousand one, one thousand two, one thousand four). It shouldn’t get past thousand 4 with only 1 person.

It’s sounding like you’re over propped, but you needed to get the other things sorted out before you worried about prop pitch.

I think you’re at the point where you need to consult someone that knows on proper pitch, I’m not your guy, but I know what I’m used to seeing and 24p on a boat that size I’m not used to seeing. I do know that prop pitch can seriously affect some motors and will cause you to chase your tail, with everything you say you’ve checked I wouldn’t go any further until I found someone that could steer me in the right direction on prop size.

Figure out what your gear case ratio is and HP rating is, anyone you talk to will want to know that.

The hole shot feels pretty good now that it's timed correctly. I don't think it's any longer than 4 seconds.
200 shot of nitrous will fix it.
You know I've been looking for marine super chargers lol.

1.85 internal ratio and 310hp.

@ryoken is a boat guy, does he fool with props?

When I see the guy I know that fools with them at our shop I’ll inquire, but we haven’t messed with any bravo dual props in years, I can’t promise that you wouldn’t net better results doing your own homework online.

i haven't read anything, but there are BB and SB props for the Bravo 3's..... just went thru it with a SB a few weeks back swinging BB props and not getting all it's R's.... had to pull an inch of pitch out of em.... that's about all you can get out of those stainless mofos, strong props....

I'll look/read back tonight and figure out what you are all talking about... ;) I'm not a huge prop guy, I know a bit.. I leave that voodoo for our prop guy generally....

I'm no boat guy but does this rev to redline just fine when not in the water?
Yes it does.

The question is only posted on the previous page. The rest of the thread has been some boat restoration, God knows you don't need to see anymore of that lol.

Not a pro at twin prop setups.

That being said, when you swapped props, did you follow procedure to get them "in sync" with each other correctly?

If all is running fine, and not getting RPMs, i agree with too much prop. I

Something I have not seen mentioned and as I do not know the science behind it I could be wrong, but doesn't altitude have something to do with prop selection? I know here in Colorado guys use different props depending on what lake they're going to.

According to Mercury's website, there really isn't any "sych" process.

Bravo Three Propeller Installation IMPORTANT: Mercury Marine Bravo Three propellers are matched sets. Do not operate the drive without a front and rear propeller of the same pitch.
1. Apply a liberal amount of one of the following lubricants to the inner and outer propeller shafts.
2. Slide the forward thrust hub onto the outer propeller shaft with the tapered end of the hub facing aft.
3. Align the splines of the propeller with the splines on the shaft and slide the propeller into place on the outer shaft.
4. Secure it with the forward propeller nut and tighten to the specified torque.
5. Slide the aft thrust hub onto the inner propeller shaft with the tapered end of the hub facing aft.
6. Align the splines of the propeller with the splines on the shaft and slide the propeller into place on the inner shaft.
7. Secure it with the aft propeller nut and tighten to the specified torque.
