2200 at 60 is too many rpms for a cummins, you should be shooting for more like 1800-1900, I spin around 1950 or so at 70mph in my 00 and average 20mpgs unloaded and still pull 16 or so towing 8k. My truck is lifted 2" with metric 33's and weighs in at 7280 last time it was on the scales. With a mild build and the proper gear ratio you should be able to get an easy 14 mpgs towing MINUMUM, 12valves when set up properly should get better mileage then my 24 valve, and if running a manual trans you should do better then my auto as well.![]()
i was more generalizing. my 6bt with nv4500/4.10s/35s got 16 all the time. and 12ish towing 9500lbs. an intercooler probably would have helped, but i never got around to installing one.
im also thinking a 6bt swap wont be more than a 383 build. its the nv4500 part is going to be where the $ will be spent.
