that's why I'll often run the rotary buffer/grinder over it with the 24 grits first to give the paint a cut, than the DA has a much easier time of it..

bet that dusted up the shop good... ;)

tryed 40 grit grinder on paint. turned it in to a plastic coating.

wasnt that bad a job i finaly stoped vibrating from all the d.a. time. :haha:

and wasnt to bad we have exaust fans . cracked the door and pluged in barn fan to blow in fresh air as exaust fan pulled air out. and had ear muffs on to dull the sound.

yeah, I'm much more of a wrench turner in recent yrs thank god... :haha:

ya guys at work will help me prep and paint it. thats what thay do.

the one guy just got a light project to wrench on and prob have me do it and he do my paint.

he picked up this 79 ford courier 11,700 orignal miles. :thumb:

its got all orignal on it other than battery basicly . even the tires are d.o.t. date coded to 79 and the spare has never been on the ground.

needs some light clean up mech work from age is all.

and the boss has a 70's chevy luv truck also he has plans for . the 2 togther would look so cool.

well its not dead just slow. works been decent and not much spare time. or if so no help yet for paint/body . but thats coming soon as his race season is closing up fast.

did decide what fuel pump's i wanted to use and were to mount for the transfer pump from extra tank to primary tank. and also my second pump will be for jerry can use with external hose hookup for filling lawn mower / atv / stuff like that . pumps have filter inside and self prime with anti drain back valve in them. old school bendix pumps. these are tanks and run for ever and move most any liquid. got pair on my parts washer flowing kerosene . works great with lots of volume.

16 ga sheet metal and 3 mounting points will be used to the frame. and old tire sidewall for the 2 rubber strips for noise/vibration isolation .

then th plate made from template.

and its left side rail just ahead of the cab mount.

also exaust will be right side so no need to run heat sheild on this combo.

got me a bday present from my self .

had h20/oil press/oil temp/volts/vac/fuel press already .

so the otherday i decided since birthday was last week i wanted to get the rest to start making the new dash .

got the speedo/tach/fuel level/trans temp ordered and delivered today .

here thay are all in the box's . auto meter sport comp orignal series. and all electric exp for vac gauge.

3 3/8" for speedo/tach and then 2 1/16" for the rest of them.

even spent extra on programable fuel level so i can get dead acurate fuel level as we all know the stock stuff is always off a bit. plus gauge looks cooler over reg old 1/4-1/2-3/4 style.

this guy has about the best prices i have found online . and if you email him he will make a GOOD package deal price for even better. i have ordered from him in the past also . [email protected]

somthin about gauges for me i guess.

got these / diydash all done up / and auto meter phantom for 3rd truck .

must go back to my days as a kid with my dads old 70 gmc 3/4 4x4 he did lots of gauges so he could keep a eye on things . :D see we are vary impresinable as young kids.

You'll like the programmable fuel gauge, I have a full set of Elites in my regal (I splurged last summer), and the programmable feature is neat, even better with the speedo. The elites look about the same, but the background can be programmed to change to one of 7 colors at any points you wish to warn you of things, basically the entire gauge is an idiot light as well as a gauge. The entire tach even changes colors when I get to my shift points. You can have it change in stages but I think that could just be distracting, the RPMs climb so quick you better shift right away anyway.

The only downfall of a 270 degree sweep fuel gauge instead of 90 degree sweep is it makes it seem like you use a lot more gas! Because the needle moves so far you can darn near watch it move. I'm exagerating but you'll see what I mean.

How are you mounting them? Getting a blank panel from ION? Or fabbing something?

ion cant do blank panels for the amount of gauges i run ( 10 ) :doah:

going to make my own to fit in the same place i think. kind of same layout as orignal but the extra 4 off to the right were vent/pocket hole and heat controls would be. then move heat controls down to radio hole and go from there . like the pic posted but 4 extra holes on right side.

Sure he can, get a blank panel with no ac. since you have the 2 1/16 gauges you can run an extra one in the center probably of both the small ones on the left plus the speedo and tach (3 3/8), plus two up by the empty vent spot above the heater control, and one down by the empty vent spot in the lower left would make 11. Or you can combine the temp gauge into a trans temp gauge by using a switch to swap which sender the gauge reads and save a gauge spot. Although I feel like you want the extra gauge there anwyay. :D
