The weld is just filling up a hole. Doesn't do anything structuraly.

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
That's what I kind of figured. Most of the force applied is from the u-bolts clamping the springs.
Headed to the shop!

That works. What did you use to move them over?
Drimel and then welded the old section up, and then cleaned up the welds.
I still like my idea better.
