2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
if you have extra leafs just add more factory together . . . more than 3 be o.k. as there tapered leaf and work harder the more there flexed from the ends in to the center.

maybe 2 4-5 leaf packs like this and a zero rate .
This is the route I am going for now. My brother had the same idea. It also helps with not having to pull the springs so much.

That actually looks almost exactly like the look on my blue crew cab which has a big block.

Sooooooo. I would just start messing around with leafs but be aware of the spring rates. You might end up with an awful ride if you add too many

Added 3 leaves to my 80 k10 up front, it rides fairly stiff. Netted about 2.5~3" over stock.

Have you considered using a zero rate as well? Not sure if that was mentioned and I missed it.

Oh I'm not afraid of a zero rate. I just don't think I will need it. I will get the right spring combo, which will give me an idea of what springs to buy.

Again, what length of spring are you needing? There are lots of cheap OEM options out there (in many different heights) if you're willing to adjust the length. Worth looking at before you drop the coin on custom lift springs.

I disagree even shorter springs that are custom are gonna ride better than any stock spring could.

I do think Ol Greg ( lol) you oughtta consider custom once your done. But for now just add some leafs .

One thing I was gonna mention though. And I have not always agreed with but compression makes a rig ride smooth. Mostly highway even. Hopefully this thing sees many miles of dirt roads in its future so keep in mind travel and not just keeping it low

Not disagreeing, just pointing out that OEM springs are often cheaper than custom leafs. He had previously mentioned he didn't wanna drop lots of coin on springs. But I'm more than willing to watch if he springs for an expensive ride. :D :thumb:

And I'll be taking notes either way.

I don't have the income to allow a purchase that big quite yet. It is on the list.

I will add a leaf and go from there.

I am also aware of the compression aspect. If the truck does not behave well with a shorter spring, then I may have to lift it just a bit.

We want to know if you carry TP in your glove box, ya know since you're the Poop King

Nice build! I considered SFA swapping my crew cab but I like the IFS for the on-road use it does. Subscribed!
