Yep. Wastegate is vacuum controlled, so depending on your perspective that might be undesirable....the downside to having the computer do it is you are still relying on the vacuum pump to function correctly.

The 1998 C3500HD I bought and gave to dad has the bailing wire "manual waste gate controller" option and I can attest that it does seem to get with the program. I really need to get the waste gate back to normal operation before we blow the heads off hauling hay with it.
I've heard/seen guys talk about doing something like this. Pull the top half off of the vacuum actuator and use some flat stock, all thread, and a wing nut to make a manual adjustable deal.
