2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
The idea of replacing your injectors.

Nope. I'm leaning toward selling both rigs and just running the Suburban. Prolly toward the end of the summer. The Suburban has the '82 red block in it. The injectors I just paid for won't fit in red block heads.

But even if they did, they haven't arrived yet. After nearly a month of waiting. :angry1:

so what are you going to do with not needed injectors?

Not sure yet. The blue truck is still useful enough that if it doesn't sell for a high price I will keep it. New injectors + my 6.5 turbine kit would make the truck more interesting. But we both know that would just be a distracting side project. I have too many rigs, too many spare parts, and not enough doors, it's time to simplify.

Turns out if you buy a truck from the 90s the turbine & serpentine setup are already installed for you. And a host of other upgrades. Who knew?

Annnnnd....

If you go even newer, you get an upgraded fuel system and an upgraded cooling system...:deal::whistle:

How much newer? I can't get too much newer without getting into obscene diesel pricing. Completely ridiculous for someone who drives truck <5000 miles / year.

Your last-generation 6.5 is as new as I'm willing to go. Not wanting a 6.6 at this time, even if they were cheap to buy.

My truck has the upgraded factory cooling. And I was merely talking about the electronic pump over mechanical pump for upgraded fuel system. I'm right with you, I don't want a new diesel truck at this time. Way too much money.

I'm neutral on the IP. The electronic ones can push more fuel, but have the famous PMD/FSD issue. Are there any downsides to the mechanical pump for a low-HP rig? :dunno:

Aside from AM General's later HMMWV engines, your engine is as refined as a 6.2 gets.

Yeah I haven't gotten one yet but I will be getting a floor mounted chest toolbox in my current shortbed. My last one had one. Too much crap to carry for an over the rail type plus I had a gooseneck in that truck and this truck has a 5th wheel. I really wanted a CCLB when I was truck shopping but caved and bought a shortbed and regret it already. Eventual plan, if I keep the truck that long, will be longbed flatbed conversion and probably even make it a dually then I can have a good sized bed and lots of storage.

CCLWB are super long, but worth it if you use the truck a lot. My old CCSWB wasn't used that often, so it very rarely was an issue.
Yeah camping in the mtns you never have enough room for everything. Especially with 4 boys worth of crap to bring.
This would solve my problems, 12.5' flatbed and 4x4 but kinda big and a little pricey $38,000. My kids would love it though.

For $38,000 I dare you to find a pickup that'll do that kind of work with that kind of longevity though. I'd love to have a truck like that some day

Yeah I found a low mileage 2wd one a few yrs ago with a mechanical injected engine for $12,900 I shoulda bought. I was a mechanic for international for 10 yrs and I love these trucks.

Not to hi-jack the thread even further but I do love them trucks also. Our semi we haul grain in is a single drive axle IH with a 466 and 7 speed, we've had 70,000 behind it a few times and it handled it like a champ. Handiest truck around the farm for sure.
