I know the truck has it's problems, but it really is a good sound. Very distinct. Something that is not common.I have one 6.5 at work and I love the sound every time I run it.
On another note.
Same codes still present and the truck is running odd. PO370 and PO251 are still hard codes that don't reset. After texting back and forth last night with @campfire and reading some stuff on dieselpage.com, I came across this info that narrows it down to need a new IP.
P0251 Injection Pump Cam System
P0370 Timing Reference High Resolution
P0251 is due to a problem with the optical/electronic portion of the fuel injection pump.
P0370 is also produced when a problem exists in the optical/electronic portion of the fuel injection pump.
Though rarely the cause, a bubble in the fuel could distort the optical signal, and is mentioned in the GM service manuals as a possibility.
The standard rule (approach to solving problems) applies here when dealing with a problem fuel injection system.
1- Make sure plenty of clean commercial diesel fuel is in the tank.
2- Make sure the fuel filter is clean.
3- Make sure the electric fuel lift pump is generating fuel pressure.
4- Make sure you cannot identify any loose electrical connectors or abraded wiring associated with the fuel injection pump.
5- Make sure all of the above have been eliminated as a cause of this problem before spending any money on parts or labor for a new injection pump.
