2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
It doesn't really work to check the low side pressure with the compressor not running.
It is used more to monitor and compare to the high side.
There must be something turning the power off to the compressor besides the cycling switch. Either a power source problem, a high side cut-off switch coming on and sticking, or your cycling switch or connector has a problem. I has to put a new connector and pigtail on a '95 once because I could wiggle it carefully and it would go back to working. The switch was fine internally, as I found from swapping it.

A/C pressures will equalize when the system is off. Looking at that while it's off doesn't really tell you much. I would run it again with the gauges on and see if the a/c works initially and then see where the pressures go when it goes warm. You can jump the cycling switch to see if the comes back on or not. Work the problem from there.

Tips on how to get this carpet to lay flat? Heat gun? Not sure how a heat gun would be much different than a closed cab on 100+ degree day.

Put something on top of the rolls to push it down while it sits.
Heavy rocks, or bricks or steel. A towel or paper bag would keep rust stains out of the carpet if you use steel.

I've let it lay in the sun, get hot, and then it's been pretty pliable for install. I've used a concrete sack wrapped in plastic for the weight bearing idea noted above, and it works really well. I've not had to use a heat gun, yet.

Still have a parasitic draw on this thing, but trickle charged the batteries last week and decided to drive it tonight to pick up an engine hoist for the Blazer motor swap. The Duramax had the engine in the bed still, so this was the only route to go.

After the battery terminals were back on it fired right up.

Going to get some cheap battery disconnects for now until I figure out the draw.

Do you have a dedicated wire feeding your body electrical system? Or is it piggy-backed onto the starter terminal?

I ask because I've melted at least one of those cheap battery disconnects driving my 2.5kW starter motor. :doah:

I now have the body systems powered through a disconnect, with a direct (unswitched) connection going to the starter. No more melting.

Food for thought.

Body is by itself I do believe. I’ll have to check in the morning. Thanks for the heads up!

So I never did update this. The truck has sat for weeks at a time, and never once had a dead battery. I’m lost as to why it was a multi time issue.

Needed to move the dually to access the driver’s door tonight, so I decided to use the Warden. Well as you can see, it was not the happiest lol.

So now that I have the dually, my dad has really been adamant about buying this thing from me. Been offering trades and telling me to give him a price. I really don’t want to sell it as it’s a fun truck and always there when I need it. But I do get tired of it sitting a lot. Perhaps the upgrades need finished, and it would serve more useful.

Step 1: Finish upgrades.
Step 2: Realize you no longer need or want the truck enough to keep it.
Step 3: Sell the truck for pennies on the dollar.

It's the CK5 way, no? ;)

:haha:

Well fate has decided for me what the plans are. Some financial crap has hit the fan, and unfortunately this truck has to go. Emergency surgery and the m’fer government have decided they would like a lot of our money and right now.

So that being said, this truck is most likely going up for sale tomorrow. I’ll know more tonight after we have some meetings.

$5,000 as is with everything to finish the 4x4 swap including reman trans and t-cases. Right now the truck runs and drives great, just 2wd. That’s the CK5 deal. Anyone else I’m going to post at $6500.

If it doesn’t sell and I get to it quickly, the 4x4 will get finished and the price will go up significantly.
