2003 duramax

How far up are you wanting to go?

There is usually only a little bit that you can go up with the front, before hitting the stops for droop or using all of the bolt.
This is based off of typical stock height. I have seen some trucks which had work done to them, which are too low and sitting on the bump stops.
I have adjusted mine as well as a couple of others which weren't set well, some low, some too high. One was so high that it rode terrible. It was topped most of the time and nose high.

I did the Rough Country keys on my 2004 Tahoe, just to level it out. (ZW7 factory coded suspension). I did an inch and it rides great, and aligned perfectly. I know its not your 2500, but the GMT800 front suspension design is very similar across the board.

Like 2 inches to level it a bit

I bought the rough country keys as well along with the tool to do it.

This is where the stock ones are at now

So you measure the bolt stick out before you install the new keys, and start there upon adjusting the new set. It takes a bit to get it all set up just right.

Take a look at your bump stops on the lower control arm. I have seen many sitting on the bump stops a good amount when sitting still. Mine rides better since I adjusted for some air gap on the bump stops when sitting.

I personally like a little bit of rake when empty, I don't like too much squat when loaded, even though I don't haul much very frequently. I just don't want to mimic Ferds that I see dragging the tail hard.

Blatant Pic whoring here.
Duramax that I hauled home for a buddy.

I wouldn't mind a slight rake but I want to raise the front a tad. For my eyes I don't like how it sits.

Nice truck by the way

Thanks!
I agree that too much rake and it's a nose dragger. :surepal:

I have no clue how much of my adjuster bolts are hanging down, but it would be different truck to truck anyway.
My son's '03 Dmax was too low when he bought it at 180K, so we cranked it up a touch. When we did the pump rub kit in the transfer case.

As far as trans service dump the oil in the pan change the filter, clean the magnet reinstall. The oil that comes out of the pan it’s 7.5 litres. I use Dex 6.
To be done every 25 thousand klms .

Canadian. You can convert.

Also if the TC hasn’t had a pump rub kit installed do it. I’ve done many some need it some look good… never know till you split the case and see for yourself.
The plate is cheap. The job is easy if you’re mechanical.

In regards to this truck having two batteries. Firstly why 2 batteries and do they usually need replacing at the same time or?

Duramax’s have two batteries from the factory. They need them to start. I bought my 04 Duramax new and still own it. Every time it’s needed batteries I’ve replaced both at the same time.

Two batteries are to double the available cranking amps. Technically you could test them and only replace the bad one if needed but the other one probably won't be far behind on failing. Running one weaker one will also tax your alternator more.

I've never had a diesel going back to 01 that didn't have two batteries to help crank them. Always best practice to replace both batteries at the same time as the weaker one will bring the newer one down.

Perfect.... thanks for the info. I figured as much replacing both at the same time when needed. I just wanted to make sure.
