2007 Xterra:Terry's Bolt On Wheeler

Hey someone cut the tubes and knuckles off of you front axle...

Figured that somebody needed to give you the bad news.

Yeah yeah....

Maybe eventually but for now I'm ok without it. 2nd Gen Xterras get so massive when you SAS them and I'm not quite ready to buggy this thing. Though I have priced out pairs of JK Pro Rock 60s while daydreaming....

Literally every axle we sell is like that. Some people get soooo pissed!

So...have you guys not figured out that those parts are valuable? Throwing away good money is a sloppy way to run a parts business. I kinda understand why driveshafts all get crunched, but I don't like that either. Sometimes you need to buy an actual driveshaft, not just the ruined pieces...

Axle parts are here. The switch to wire up the locker should be here this weekend.

Now to decide on a diff cover. I'm going back and forth between the ARB cover in black, the RuffStuff cover OffRoadGorilla sells and the Shrockworks skid for the OE cover. ARB is leading the pack right now because of the drain plug.

Backing plates are swapped
OE Cover is reinstalled with a lube locker gasket
C200K has brakes, parking brake cables, shocks and drive shaft pulled.

Need to pull the brake hoses off, unplug the ABS sensors and take the shackles off so I can swing the axle down and take the u-bolts off and the old axle will be out.

The M226 needs the rest of the sway bar mounts ground off and painted and it'll be ready to go back in.

I have an ARB cover sitting in the shop to go on in a few weeks with some Amsoil but I want to flush the diff with some fresh oil first and that will help set the depth of oil so I can mark the dipstick on the ARB cover when it goes on.

I'm going to have to order new front wheel bearings and a new CV for the rear drive shaft. They are all showing some pretty good wear and the DS wheel bearing is toast.

But we're making progress and I hope to at least have the rear in and ready to go (minus locker wiring) by this weekend and be tearing into the front.

Cool stuff.

Is your workplace busy this week? We rapidly got slammed with orders, I'd figure you guys are in a similar boat.

No. A lot of our stuff goes over seas to Asia so we're actually down on orders and looking at mandatory 5 day outages on each machine for the foreseeable future.

The really crappy thing is because they aren't selling right now, they won't spend the money to use the downtime for maintenance. "Don't buy anything to fix anything right now, just patch it back up so we can try to run on it when we get orders again." FML....

Oh, and you should probably regear your axles. ;)
I haven't found any aftermarket shafts for the M226 and RCV quit developing the CV shaft upgrades for the front due to "lack of interest".....

Meh, part of what I get for getting some off-brand junk I guess..... Jeep or Toyota guys get all the cool support...

5 days? :eek1: Dat's not good. And shortsighted repairs brings shortsighted results. You always pay for it later on.

So...Jeep axles?

Naww. Buy American! Daimler-Fiat-Chrystler-Jeep-Renault-Peugeot-Citroen-Opel-Vauxhall-AndWhoeverElse for the win!

Man, Jeep has a convoluted history. And those are just the recent shareholders. :doah:
Yeah but Toyota uses the same supplier for running gear as Nissan so he would be true to the xterra

The M226 is actually a "Super44" from Dana. Pretty similar to the JKR D44.

And stop tempting me. I'm pretty damn certain I could get a JKR 44 under the front with no more than 4" of lift with radius arms but I don't need to be slicing up my DD right now....
