Sorry to post this here, NBS fourm is dead.

We all know you can clear 285, 75/16's on stock rims on 1/2 ton chevys 89-06.

What is the story on 2008 body style tahoe (07 trucks)?

Anyone have any experience? Its hard to find this info online, most guys are dropping them and running 22" rimz.

I'm helping a buddy set his up. He would ideally run a 285 on an 18x8 or 18x9, but i doubt that width will clear.

Whats the scoop?

Stock is 265/65/18.

THanks guys!

got to be super picky to make sure on those newer square fender holes thay gave us. most of the time i have to cut bottom of valence and remove mud flaps and still tiny rubb.

best i will say is get a torsion key kit to help as much as i dont realy care for them :doah:

Torsion bar? The new body style's are Coil over IFS front, or at least the Tahoe's are.

Are the trucks still tbar? I'm talking specifically of a tahoe if they are different.

Wife's 07 Tahoe is coils front and rear.Winter wheels 265/70-16.Summer 275/50-20.Staying tuned to this one as I just got the OK to remove running boards(She gets mud on her pant leg from them)and we all know how quickly these things progress:wink1:

Yep. Pretty nice coil over IFS setup.

sorry :doah:i do work on mostly 2500 / 3500 around here.

thay offer a leveler kit for the coils its a spacer that is simple to bolt on top of the coil/strut unit. about 1hr + alignment

i just cranked the torsion bars up on an 07 2500hd crewcab shortbed and we put a set of bridgestone duellers 305-75-16....and they dont rub, had to take the mud flaps of tho...

if i were you i would get the spacers for the front to be safe but im willing to bet they will clear just fine

Yah, i have seen the leveling kits. These are definitely on the table of options right now.

So with/without, what can you clear on a stock 1/2 ton 4x?

well as i said before, i have a friend that had 35s on a stock Z71. it was a very tight fit. i have also seen 35s stock on the tahoes(old body style). so i think you can clear the 33s with the 18s just fine. but thats my .02:D

How could you possibly clear 35's stock? I want to know the largest size that is generally accepted as "no mods needed, will not rub". I had stock 265's on my 94, and was able to rub them in extreme circumstances.

So how the heck did 35's fit? I mean, they might fit at the tire shop, but could you turn at all?

well keep in mind this was not a truck that went rock crawling or anything. it was just a DD that he used to get to the woods when huntin. it rubbed in one spot but it was the same spot that i rubbed with my 35s on my truck(except i had a 3 inch lift) so it can be done. he had torsion keys that was the only thing.

I've got 305/75/16s on my 07 2500HD, but I do rub a bit when at full lock. I'm planning to step down to a 265/75/16 instead (245s look goofy on the truck)

Considered 285/75R16's or 255/85R16's? Both would be about the same height but noticeably narrower.

So basically, our old addage is proving true again? 285's on stockish wheels will work? Works for me. Will report back wiht results.
