2008 Tahoe Wheel/Tire Clearance

if you have clearence with 305 in hight but not in width and like the stance then go 285 . and 255/85/15 is yet skinnyer like a pie cutter tire.

In order from tending to be shortest to tending to be tallest you have:

305/70R16 = 33x12.5R16

285/75R16 = 33x11.25R16

255/85R16 = tall 33x10ishR16

Sometimes they end up taller, shorter, narrower, skinnier, etc than advertised. A friend of mine had a set of 285 Cooper STT's that were most of an inch taller than a similar set of 285 BFG AT's on another friends' similar size and weight fullsize pickup.

He said it's an 18" rim.The small rims on these are 17" but I don't know if that is for caliper clearance or just because that's what everything seems to be going to.I think a 255/85-16 Trxus MT would work well on the Tahoe.

Derp yeah, missed that part. Still, from what I've heard they tend to trend that way even with the bigger rims.
