2012 Chevrolet Caprice PPV

I drained the oil and saw more gold flakes, plus a needle bearing from the failed rocker arm, which wasn't surprising.
Removed the old oil pan and saw more needle bearings, plus bits of the trunnion and needle bearings in the oil pump pickup tube screen.

How can I effectively clean this, or do I need to buy a new one? 9428.jpg

I think I would would to look inside the oil pump to make sure nothing got inside. Hopefully its all chunks like that that didn't get through.

With that lip folded inward, I think it would be difficult to clean it, I would replace it.

Yeah, I'm not rebuilding this engine, just swapping the oil pan, pickup tube, etc onto the low mile, used L96 so I can get this turd back on the road finally

I'll post the L77 for sale when I'm done stripping parts off it. Definitely advise a teardown and rebuild

Aight gang, I'm back at it. It's sat for a year with the oil pan off, but all other openings taped closed. Since the cam was inserted covered in assembly lube, but I never finished putting it together, would it be wise to pull the cam, re-lube, and then proceed with assembly?

Or is the 1 year old assembly lube still good?

Since it's a roller cam it might be fine but it depends on if its covered in dust from sitting with the oil pan off? Especially any abrasive dust.

Whatever you do I would change the oil after the first time you run it to try and flush any dust out.

I tried to remove the cam and it wouldn't come out past about 4-5". So I tried to reinstall it and it won't go all the way in.
Yes, I had the wooden dowels in.

I suspected fallen lifter(s), so off came the heads. There goes another $200 in head gaskets and head bolts.
I'm going to remove all the lifters today, remove, clean, lube, and reinstall the cam.

Better safe than sorry since I'm already this deep into the motor.
