any issue with leaving out the plastic drive gear and speedo drive ? :dunno:

what can I use to plug the hole ??? freeze plug ? :dunno:

off road only no speedo needed....

take out what you want and pop in a regular old plug. i think its standard pipe thread, i have one that came from a hardware store.

the plastic drive worm gear doesn't act as any kind of spacer on the output shaft correct ?...OK to toss it ?

toss it, or to save you from taking it all apart just pull the metal gear out of the side of the housing.

IIRC the speedo drive gear (plastic one in your case) MUST be there as when you tighten the Yoke/Flange nut it sandwhich's the gear between the output shaft and rear output shaft bearing and sets endplay for the output shaft.

if i recall both styles need it.

the plastic is fatter/taller than the steel gear on old 205. but the steel ones used a spacer also to make up the diffrence.

pics of my 205 rear output looks like the plastic gear is just a bit taller than the splines and makes the bottom out needed to keep everything tight.

Yeah, I knew both styles need it but I was just reffering to his plastic gear as to not confuse him somehow.

I'm interested in learning more about the speedo gears for the 205's.

How many are there? Colors? Numbers of teeth? Got a guide for axle ratios to use with the correct gear in order to get the speedo correct?

I've never seen a yellow one. All red ones I've seen in all my years of dismantling crap.
