trying to get a 1981 elcamino on its feet, three shops have thrown money at the problem.

seems the 4 years of computersontrolled carbs ment a odd dist set up.

car has had new parts thrown at it, now I want to ditch the comp controlled carb.

thoughts or info on years, i did find out the buick 3.8 parts will not work as people have told me it would:doah:

The Buick is a totally different motor. I had a 229 in an 84 S-10(not OE). The carb was a staged 2 barrel, w/o comp feedback. I believe the bore/stroke is the same as a 305. Just drop a small block in it, and be done.:D

Its a Chevy V-8 sans two cylinders . You can run a six cylinder regular HEI from earlier models from the late 70's , and a Quadrajet or dualjet on it .

Summit and Jegs can even ship you out a bling distributor if you prefer pricey and bulletproof .
