Quoted myself...for truth.

There are some of us truly interested in the build. I have no need to see what appears to be a good thread polluted with a bunch of BS from CK5ers that can't seem to act like adults.

If you can't live with that, start a new "let's bash Howdiy" thread in the Lounge or on Pirate, or better yet, take it to an unmoderated Usenet forum where this bullsh!t is an everyday occurrence. If Howdiy's standing with the mods were better, certain members would've already been warned. I'm not saying the mods are biased--Hell, they may not even be aware of what's happening here, but this is not typical of the behavior that makes CK5 a great place to be--most of the time...

I personally believe 1/2 of the readers of this thread have subscribed simply in the hopes that Howdiy will do something they don't approve of to justify jumping his ass.

LET IT GO...

First time I've read this thread but I totally agree :thumb:

As for Howdiy, don't forget to wheel your rig (or at least, SOME rig) every once in a while. If you spend all your time building you WILL abandon your project at some point.

I love building as much as wheeling but if you don't use your truck every now and again you will lose interest eventually, I've seen it a million times.

figures, i cant find big tires that fit my wheels. im running 33's right now. good luck with the build too. its coming along nice and its nice to see another guy my age attempting a build of this caliber

Got the axle under neath

Need u bolts, my current ones won't cut it for too long

I'm gonna get 6 9/16" or what the size is bolts also, plus a 2" hole saw

Axle is about 2" forward from stock

I also got one 5/8" hole drilled in my arm. I'm going to have my dad take it to his friends machine shop and see if they can drill it to 1", as that is what FOR MUD recommended.

Now that I'm actually doing something theres no comments :(

I'm sure you do, but it looks like you don't have a center alignment pin in your spring pack. You may have answered this already but how much total lift are you hoping to achieve?

Yeah I have the alignment pin

I also have another set of springs that I'm going to sue, these are for mock up.

I don't know how much lift but hopefully 5"

Looking good. I have to hand it to you Howdiy, I only wish I had your temperment. You seam to brush off 99% of the insults and negitive comments.

I'm too lazy to go back and read the whole thread to see if this question has been asked before: Why didn't you use the B-52 hangers that Kert offers on his site?

This would have eliminated all that extra work you did to make the bottom bracket fit to the frame. All you needed to do was pop the rivets out on the cab mounts and then bolt up the B-52's and call it done.

Unless I'm missing something here, please elaborate. Maybe you just wanted to be creative and do it yourself?

The b52 would be way harder. I didn't have any extra work making it fit, it was cnc cut to fit. just ground the paint of and welded it.

Plus it was cheaper, and it also gives me around another 1" of lift

I don't know about later models, but the front body mounts are different between 2wd and 4wd. Howidy would have to drill new holes.

I got a little more done

I just need to drill 6 more holes in the frame, bore the shackles out to 9/16" and buy 2 more shackles.

I also got a corporate 14 for the back, someone offered it to me for free while working on the truck today. My dad took the one the truck originally had

This distance is around 49 and 3/4", just though I would post that because I searched and searched and found nothing from people who use 52's

Also the rear shackle hangers were drilled out so I could use stronger bolts, 7/16 fine thread

I may get it rolling by next week

this is the link to my entire build of it, i have built other add ons since, tire gate and such, but, this is all the chopping of it, i havent bobbed it, and im not sure if i will, can get you more info if you have questions

That looks good

Definitely some inspiration, although I want a shorter length of panel on the back

I can cut the back off of my old truck before I scrap it

I definately want to bob mine though

BTW I went back with a 9/16 bit and got one side rolling

I just need to order two more shackles, I cant find the other pair.

Showing that there is enough clearance between the shackle and frame

I need to order....

1 D60 cap, like the one shown in the pic. Where can I get one of those?
Kingpin rebuild kit
1" heim
Drag link, I think I'll get my own locally, so just the weld on ends
15" 8 lug wheels

I'll add more as I think of it

I looked all over online for the kingpin rebuild kits and actually my local GMC dealership had them cheaper than anywhere online. So gather your prices online then check with the dealer B4 you order. I think I got mine for $46ish after tax, and no waiting.
