3/4 Ton Swap is DONE: **d-shaft question**

Nope...its honestly not a big deal...with no fluid they are either going to not work upside down or not work right side up so why waste my time? I'm not saying they are low buddy...I mean these suckers are EMPTY! :)

As far as the burnout stuff goes...I don't know...its just cool. So how does everyone do it? I haven't messed around b/c I don't want to break anything...all I ever do is just punch it and turn a bit to break traction...so do you guys just hold the brakes and punch the throttle or hold the brakes and lay into it?
I drive around the water box, step on the brakes hard, set the line loc. Step on the throttle, rev to 5500, shift to 2nd, hold for 3 seconds, let off the line loc. and throttle.

gmc4cw do you really think that I'll notice a difference in the ride quality? I didn't think these 8" springs flexed much...but then again it's always been this way so I don't really know how it feels with shocks on it.

I can't believe I just wasted 45 minutes of my time reading this abortion of a useless thread...

Hey Avery,

Not trying to be a smart ass, but why don't you remove your leaf springs and bolt the axles directly to the frame and see if you notice a difference in the ride?

C'mon dude, please use a little common sense. Of course the truck is gonna ride better and you're gonna see a big difference. Right now, your leaf springs are the only shock absorbtion you have, and that's an overloading stress. They aren't designed for that. Every impact your truck receives from a bump or pot hole is being distributed to every part of the truck. You're asking for damage.

It's evident you're not listening to folks again. It's getting tiring. The guys are trying to help you by posting links to get you what you need at a reasonable, affordable price. If ruining your truck is what you want to do, then so be it, but remember this: you're creating this rain storm, so don't b*tch to everyone when it starts to rain on your parade. After all, you made the rain. Ante up and buy the stupid shocks and save yourself a little grief.

Well Manny I don't see the issue...you guys said get new shocks...I said ok and I'll order them when I have the money. No need to be a smart a$$ about it. It's not like I'm saying that I'm not going to get them. ;)
Oh and running axles bolted directly to the frame and running with empty shocks are two different things...especially with 8" springs...they don't flex like most guys are used to so the shock won't even cycle up and down very far...honestly maybe 3-4 inches...

Springs cycling and the dampening effect from shocks are 2 different things if not there would not be both on the vehicle. The shocks keep the truck from bouncing like a ****ing hoopty when you go over a bump. Once again you are arguing about **** you know nothing aboot and each post you make backs it up even more.

I do believe you have gotten the last piece of wisdom from me. Hope your build goes well and you dont ****ing end up killing someone or yourself.

Have a nice ****ing day:rolleyes:

that wasn't the point of that post...he is the one that mentioned taking the springs off to make a point but w/e I think I'm about done around here as everything we talk about becomes a focking bitch fest.

Do you ever wonder why?

Avery, a word of advice just shut up and make a new post when you put your rear shocks on. Also, like ive said before, run a search via google on all the automotive systems you can. Having a better understanding of how things work will help you understand your questions alot easier. But dont respond to anything until you swap rear shocks the correct way.

so would u mount a remote reservoir coil over upside down? just put the reservoir on the axle? no so just use common sense man

great article so read up. don't they have stickers saying "this end up" on them? and there is a section on mounting shocks upside down in it.

Oh and go back and read this whole article.

Someone calls you out on it....

You defend yourself...

Your still called on it...

You continue to argue...

Then you reluctantly agree with everyone and suddenly you love and appreciate the knowledge we bestow upon you:rolleyes:
