3/4 Ton Swap is DONE: **d-shaft question**

i want 4 wheel steering can i do this lol jk naw but when u swapin the front? this weekend maybe?

Like the others have been asking.....did you get the center pin changed yet?

I finally opened this thread to read up on all the hype and my jaw just hit the floor when I saw the carriage bolt in place of a center pin. I was just dumbfounded that you would let this go and not fix it immediately.

Remind me not to ride with you until you fix that pin.

On a side note, you mention 9" and 10" lift. Where do you get those figures? Your truck has 8" Superlift front and rear springs. Period. Where are you getting the extra 1" or even 2"? Sorry to rain on your parade but those are 8" springs.

Yeah I'm ok guys...I've been so busy with school starting back up this week that I haven't even had time to do anything...this weekend is a 3 day weekend though so I'm getting the carriage bolt replaced and the front end put in...
I measured it from the top of the axle tube to the bottom of the frame one time right after I got it and had someone else I met online do the same (they had a stock 80 somethin' K10) so that's how I came up with the lift...yeah I know they come in even lift heights and have always thought this was funny...I dunno. I should do it again...maybe that guy was an idiot. Oh and the extra inch in the back from the 14ff compared to the 10b.

Ok, I know it's not what you all want to hear but I have been combing that rear end with a microscope after every trip...when I get to school, when I get to work, and when I get home and nothing has shifted at all...I know that's not the point because it can just break out of nowhere but I am keeping an eye on it and taking it VERY easy throttle wise compared to what I normally do at school, lol.

Oh, almost forgot...what the heck am I going to do with the front sway bar? Just bolt it back up or what?

ur running a leaf sprung suspension its pretty stable. but ur also lifted 8inches and sittin on 38.5s so if its gonna lean and roll u aint got nothing to stop it. plus it will flex better lol

Ok so that's two votes for leaving it off...
Is it safe to do that? I mean I know a lot of you don't run one but there are also a lot of "toys" on this site...I run 95% on the highway with this truck at 80mph so keep that in mind...

You dont have a center pin in your rear springs and you want to know if no swaybar is unsafe? I have not had mine in 2 years and I have atleast 60 miles one way to wheel it is fine with out it.

I'm glad we're all thinking that but let's stay focused and not be a smart ass about it...YES I'M REPLACING THE FREAKING PIN THIS WEEKEND, so let's leave it at that...bringing it up every post you make doesn't help answer my questions that I have for swapping in the front axle now does it?

Anyone else have a swaybar opinion? 60 miles is nothin'...this truck gets 30+ miles each and every day put on it...school is 10 miles away...plus work, etc. and it adds up fast.

same here  and hurry up and change that center pin out...

Oh fock it...what's the use...I'll figure it all out on my own....talk to you all in a couple days...I'm out!

The point of the 60 miles is the fact that it is driven and not trailered to the trail. If I could afford the gas I would drive it everyday with no swaybar. You having an 8" lift spring I doubt you will even notice that it is gone:rolleyes:.

no, but it does drill into your thick skull what an incosiderate little **** you are being. you are not only risking your own life (which is completely fine, your choice) but the lives of every person you pass on the highway at 80 mph with an inferior piece of hardware locating a 700#+ axle.

by your own words, by the time you get that thing replaced you will have 150+ miles on it. because you "didnt have time" to fix the damned thing right.

I stay out the war we call your posts normally, and I admire your ability to roll with the punches, truly. :waytogo:

When it comes to suspension, steering and brakes you can't compromise, no matter what.

But what you are doing with this particular situation is being a stubborn, I know-it-all teenager. You truly are endangering the lives of everyone in your path. Get a ride to school or fix it before you kill someone. I know you think its ok, but its not. How would you feel if you hit a mother and her newborn child, killing both of them? Right, right, that wont happen to me...

I work in construction. I see guys that "do it everyday" without a problem and work in an unsafe way. That won't happen to me, because "I do it all the time"...That is until they get hurt. I've seen some pretty bad things happen, even death.

I know you are going to drive it again today, and nothing will change your mind, b/c you know better, and its fine, right? I'll say a prayer that you don't hurt anyone.

I do know this, if you killed one of my family members or a good friend b/c you "knew" better, and didn't take the 45 minutes and 5 bucks to fix it right, I'd kick your ass to say the least..

Maybe someday you will grow out of it, maybe. I just hope its before someone gets hurt.

John
