i didn't read all of it but, how does somebody with over 2000 posts not know why you shouldn't use anything but a center bolt when bolting spring packs together?

yeah I don't really see the correlation...I have a ton of posts because I ask a lot of questions...

hey avey i found a couple of pics of the lift and tires that the guy wants to trade with me

like I told you in our messages...I absolutely LOVE my Baja Claws...the width is very nice and they are one of the most stable tires I have ever drove/riden with.
I talked to a friend who has a shop here in town and he said if you are willing to spend the extra $$$ for the MT tires it's money well spent since MT Tires are actually round...what a concept Interco...lol

Oh and yeah that truck really does look exactly like mine...lol

Started swapping in my 8 lug junk & lift today. I only had a few hours to work on it but I got the old axle, springs, shocks, and sway bar out. Then I got the new springs bolted up and got the new steering arm mounted on the 8lug front. Soaked the old arm in Deep Creep and started whacking it with a 4 pound short handled sledge. Took about 30-40 whacks but it came off and I didn't even have to spark up the smoke wrench. Sometimes things actually work out the way they're supposed to... :D I really hope you tried removing yours without taking it to the shop. I can think of a few better ways to blow $70!

I'm about to do a 3/4 ton swap too... Cept I'm starting with a 2wd again :P

Let me know how that goes. My buddy's got a CLEAN '85 C20 that he's talking about making into a 4x4. I'd like to see if it's worth the trouble or not.

Actually not that bad. Brace the front of the frame up a bit to keep things from shifting, then bolt the 4x4 stuff straight up.

Biggest pain is grinding all those rivets off, and swapping the cab out.

Well, we'll see if the 208 will clear the cab. I have seen a few 2wd cabs that have a hump for the transfercase, infact, my donor cab has one, but I know for a fact that the stepside does not have a cab with a transfercase hump, so we'll see

Try a body lift so you don't have to swap cabs. ;)

there is no way that GM would have made 2 different cabs. it's just not cost effective. the only differences I have ever seen are if the trans hump bolts down or is held down with sealant. are you clocking the 208? that would require more room, otherwise it will fit in the stock location fine.

GM made more than 2 different cabs...

One with an unboltable hump, and no t-case hump, which my 74 C20 had, one with an unboltable hump, and a t-case hump, which my 79 K25 had, one with a fixed hump, and no-tcase hump, which my 77 has, and finally, one with a fixed hump, and a t-case hump, which my 81 cab has.

Seems strange, but that is GM for ya! If you want proof, I'll get a few pics for you :)
