3/4 Ton Swap is DONE: **d-shaft question**

No where else on this site does anyone else constantly argue when they get advice, only you, and alot of people are getting tied of it.
Someone once told me "When you are talking you can't learn anything because you already know it, the only way to learn is to listen.
Yes question authority, but it help when you know what your talking about.

Along those lines. God (or the being/belief of your choice) gave you 2 ears, 2 eyes and only 1 mouth. That means you should listen and watch twice as much as you talk. You sir do neither.

Ira

lol...I do listen and watch 100x more than I speak...but the only way to converse on here is to speak so thats all we ever get to see from one another....;)

Honestly I've been up to my eyeballs with work (that conference I was telling some of you about is this weekend) and I've been at the church from 7:00 to midnight the last couple days and it finally caught up to me...

Oooooo one nice story though...I got the pleasure of jumping a jeep in the parking lot this evening in the pouring rain...ahhh nothing like the pleasures of watching everyone come out and look at the Chevy gettin' the jeep going...:)

Avery,

I'm not against you. I am trying to share some hard learned lessons so you don't make the same mistakes. I'm not going to force you to learn because that is imposing my will over yours. I won't do that.

The line about the removing the springs was to get your attention. Forgive me if I missed it, but I didn't see where you said you were gonna buy shocks. All I was doing was pointing out exactly what Ira said, although not as gracefully.

I wish you no harm. Nor will I ever attack you personally. I'm just trying to point out mistakes you are making. They don't have to be about the truck, but can be thought processes or un-educated decisions. I stand ready to encourage you, support you, and help you in any manner. Sometimes though, you need to not only hear what people have to say but listen.

Again, if you said you were going to buy shocks, I apologize, I didn't read it or see it. Other than the first remark, which I backed by saying I wasn't trying to be a smart-ass, I can't see how you interpreted it as an attack.

I only wish you well in your build. I still want to meet you when you come to Texas, and my hand is still extended to help you build or wheel.

Take care,

Manny

Thanks...thats one nice thing about you Manny...you aren't afraid to tell it like it is (even if that means saying you missed something)...

That though my friend is exactly the problem...people assume stuff and type first then ask questions later which causes all the $hit around here...if people would just take a sec to read and maybe ask some questions (or heaven forbid STHU and wait for a response) then we'd be ok.

Hi Avery,

One thing I have notice in general around the board is that temper's seem to be flying and there is a shortness to everyone's fuse. I'm not exempt from that either. All you have to do is look at my 14Bolt post and the engagement with beater_k20. I stood up for what was right, but he really set me off.

I'm beginning to think that a cool off period is needed. I agree that threads need to be read, and sometimes re-read to guage a proper response. But I also believe that posts written stand for themselves and peoples attitudes are judged by the words they use. Actions speak louder than words.

On the flip side, if you aren't sure what the person meant, don't jump out there and make an accusation on assumptions. Assuming is a mother, and it makes a**es outta u and me.

If I am wrong, I'll glady admit I'm wrong and correct any injustice that I have caused. I'm not ashamed to say I'm wrong. I'm proud though to stand up for what is right. Innocent ribbing is good and healthy, but personal attacks are in my eyes, a no-go.

I hope you know that I don't have any issues with you. It's just that I'd like to see you slow down a bit, keeping your answers short. If you don't know, ask. People will gladly tell you. It's arguing the response that get's you in trouble.

Please consider it, and try to work on it. You'll be better off when you graduate school and enter the full-time college or work scene.

Hang in there Avery,

Manny

Is that why he's now banned?

Man, I don't see how anybody could possibly miss some info in a 67 page long thread about an axle swap. Maybe you could have this thread locked and start a new one about mounting your springs to your frame, running empty shocks upside down or monthly mangina cleanings. Why do you keep responding to every little detail or shot taken at you? Let it go... go wheelin'!

oh well, sucks to be him. He was an a$$hat anyways. Now he can spend time with Timmay

Manny

I think you are 100% right Manny.

Just remember people are assholes in the world and think because they are older and have more experience than you that they are the guru of Chevy trucks. I won't mention names, but I did notice its was the same people heckling you the whole time. And I guess it wasn't just you, it was Manny and now I think that BIGBLAZE433's build thread is now going down the tubes too as a result of people posting crap. And WTF is with this mullet thing?

Its ok Avery you have made mistakes, along with me. Its ok, this is my first ever Chevy truck, so that qualifies me as a nOoB too and I believe I'm the same age as you. I mean my truck is till sitting on a hockey-puck body mounts for a lift kit  :doah:. I know its not right but I have to run it for now because of time and $$ constraints as my truck is my DD too. In my build thread it was pointed out to me, but not in the crazy personal attacking way everyone has been throwing at you. I do understand the safety conserns though, but I think people are just full of themselves sometimes.

yeah I agree...

oh the mullet thing is something that iwaxmymangina keeps bringing up to try to be funny...this summer I had a mullet type thing for a while (it was just long and I pushed it back but we played it was a mullet) but now he decided to try and post crap in everyone else's threads about it b/c he doesn't have one of his own where he shows us what a chevy god he is...;)

middle of the road observation here, but experience does indeed count for something, take it wisely.

yes of course experience plays a major role around here but what good is experience if you can't get your point across w/o being an a$$? On the flip side of things I need to keep an eye on how I respond...I was talking to someone via PM's and I realized through our conversations that sometimes I come across as not caring about something when in fact I do....so I'll try to work on that.

What's the point of acting like you know stuff when you don't?

You've got young bucks disease if I've ever seen it.. You don't know chit kid, contrary to what you think... You remind me of Dirtwarrior big time... Maybe when your inexperience bites you in the arse, you'll learn to be a bit more humble, as opposed to arguing with everyone all the time...

I can't believe this abortion of a thread, thats only tech merit is about what not to do, has like 15,000 views... Whereas threads with real tech merit have like 400... Freakin sad.... :(

Hey Chevy,

I'm guilty about giving Avery a hard time on two accounts:

1. Not taking the repairs needed seriously enough

2. Trying to get him to slow down and realize what's going on around him.

Two issues I won't apologize for, but that I am reviewing to make sure I handled correctly. If I owe young Avery a public apology for handling it wrong, I'll gladly give it!

I too, just like you are a noob when it comes to Chevy's. I'm working with experience with Toyota's and learning along the way. I make mistakes. I just made a 2 hour labor and $40.00 mistake today by splitting the cap seal on one of my Spicer u-joints. So now I have to take it all apart, buy a new u-joint, and try again. Am I upset, yes and no. Yeah, because I have to spend the money, but NO because it's a valuable learning experience. Sometimes you can't measure that in $$$ and cents.

I encourage Avery to continue working on his rig. I also encourage him to ask questions without fear. If he is unjustly attacked or personally defiled, I will stand up for him and defend him. He has to be given the opportunity to learn. No one here is an expert. Certainly not I. We old cat's hafta remember where we came from: noobville. No reason to forget that.

Chevy, I'll be coming to MA to see BigBlaze. Would you want to join us for a day in the MUD?

Thanks!

Manny

Hey Wax,

I don't think he's implying your a "Chevy god." I think he's saying that if there was one, you're mullet fascination fits the MO, and you wish you had one.

Avery, with all my heart, please head my remarks earlier about a chill out period. Things start to quiet down and then you make a remark that fuels it again. The mullet thing is just something to bust balls that's gotten a little hay wire. You need to let it go!

In return, wax, and everyone else, let's lay up on the kid a little bit. I'm sure he's feelin a little bruised right now. It's kinda gotten a little malicious, IMHO. Let's all just sit down, chill, have a beer, sing a song, and all will be merry again.

Avery, please take time to relax. I know your defenses are up. Lower them and take in a deep breath. Kinda keep the keys focused on building, not side candor. This will end soon, either by itself, or moderator intervention.

Peace in and to the bru-tha hood!

Manny
