3/4 ton Swap?

Depends upon the year of caliper you use. The parts store should know.

Martin

Martin, do you know off-hand what size the banjo bolts for the calipers are? or anyone else?

10mm for 10 bolts, 3/8" for Dana 44's. This isn't set in stone, seeing as the calipers can be switched from axle to axle. Any caliper you buy and state 1981-1987 3/4 ton will have 10mm banjo bolts. Which is also what your blazer already has upfront.

Well the disc conversion went well. Alot smoother than most of my projects. Other thand that drum being stuck everything went fine. Just gotta run the brake lines and the rear axle will be ready to drop in.:D well besides the bolt that broke off in the pinion yoke when i was taking the old u-joint out.

Well damn... I went to go work on the front axle today, and while i was taking the driver side brake caliper off, i noticed the dang steering knuckle is cracked. I really cant afford $260 for a new one. And the local salvage yard doesnt have any 8 lug 10 bolts. Does the ifs setup use the same knuckles? If not whats the cheapest place to get one at?

check Craigslist...whole 10 bolt front ends are dirt cheap here, like ~$100.

and put a WTB ad in the classifieds here.

i'll have one for the cost of shipping when i get my D60 under the Sub, but that may be a few weeks.

Damn, I literally just gave away a knuckle last night. Could've been yours for the shipping cost. I think the spindle bolt pattern might be different but don't quote me on that. Could be different between Ford and Chevy only.

what specific tools are required to remove the front drivers side steering knuckle on the 10 bolt? going to the salvage yard today after school so quick replies would be appreciated.
Thanks.

well i got the new knuckle ready to go on. i just have to get the old on off.(ball joints are a PITA!) got new ball joints for the new knuckle. gonna go to my uncles shop and press them in tomorrow. getting closer and closer to finally being able to put these on the ole k5. still gotta buy new rims and tires though... thats not gonna be cheap

I've pretty much got the axles ready. just have to buy new u-bolts and brake lines. then i have to buy wheels and tires. I know i will be buying 385/70R16 toyo open country M/T's. My uncle deals them and i can get a great deal. the rims are a different story... I found a set of 16x8 Ion Bullet holes for 400. But they are only 8 inches wide. Will these tires fit on these rims okay? i wont be driving the truck every day. just a couple times a week. also the offset is -6 on these wheels. How would these tires fit? My truck will have approx. 9 inches of lift when its complete.

Those tires should fit fine. They will bulge a little but I like thàt myself so it will protect the rims better.stock rims are usually -4.5 so the new rims will push out 1.5 inches more. Since its not centered it will put more tire out torward the fender. With that much lift it shouldn't hurt anything. Only 2 inches of rim will cover the calipers then. It will give a wider stance and put more pressure on the ball joints and wheel bearings than a centered wheel will. I got my steely rims from keystone for 50 apiece. Don't know if your set on those rims or not.

I have 15" wide boggers on 8" rims. I like to think of it as a little extra security that I won't blow a bead if I push the tire up against something

how much work is required to put a new yoke on the 14 bolt? i broke a bolt off in it and cant get it out. i want to get one with the u bolts instead of the straps.

axle swap is pretty much done. but what size are the u-joint strap bolts for a 3/4 ton 10 bolt? the parts stores aroubd here are worthless.
