3D Printing Projects - Truck parts and tools

Quick project this evening for custom bumper adapters for the front bumper sensors on my 2016 3500hd.

First test print was printed vehicle without supports and installed with a perfect fit in the sensor but snapped when removed due to the layers being on the weak bending axis. Second print I rotated the part 45 degrees and printed with support and it works perfect without breaking when removed.

I had a couple projects come together today. Both being my designs from scratch because I didn't like anything I found available to download.

First was an AMS riser with storage for extra build plates.

Next was to recycle the handle from my original AMS lid onto the Sunlu AMS dryer.

I guess it was only a matter of time before my designs were stolen and sold on Amazon. Anyone want to help me play wackamole and leave negative feedback along with reporting the sellers? They even went as far as to steal my photos.

The game is unwinnable. It's like prairie dog shooting at a massive den. I spent years doing it, ebay, amazaon, etsy, etc. I only got a few ebay listings taken down due to registered trademark infringement where they even copy the logo.

BUT, it sure does feel good for the first time or two you get one taken down. So in that regard its worth it.
 
The other way to look at it is that letting these vendors battle each other for pricing helps out the enthusiast who doesn't own a printer.

The down side is it hurts the guy with his own design from 3D classic car parts at the same time. That was not my intention.

Unfortunately you can't know what would happen when you try to be good person, but I wouldn't worry about hurting the 3d classic car parts guy, you didn't intentionally hurt him.
At the same time you helped plenty of enthusiasts DIYers.
 
We will see how it goes. I found the official way to report copyright infringement on Amazon and should have an answer in a couple days.

As of right now, all of the Amazon sellers of my cupholders have been taken down by Amazon.
 
I'm saving up for the p2s with ams2 combo. I've heard that there is usually an anniversary sale from Bambu in late June. That's when I'm going to try and buy.
 
I just ordered the bambu X2D combo with the unit on top and a bunch of filament.
Is there anything else you guys recommend for a beginner? Also, maybe a software program designing, something that will work with an Apple laptop.

Get familiar with what filament is good for what applications. Learn with PLA as it is the easiest to print, then PTEG, and eventually engineering filaments.

CAD software for Mac, I think the freeware version of Fusion will support that. There are other free CAD software, but Fusion is going to be better than most.

I was going to suggest that over the P2S combo, that new machine is a very capable unit for the price, it adds dual nozzles and active chamber heating without losing the single nozzle print volume like the H2D does from the H2S.

So you could actually print not just multi color, but dual material like having a combination of PETG and TPU for built in sealing or flexible zones that are integral to the rigid components. Its like a mini H2D at under half the cost.

You will be shocked at how many things are just "ready to print" on makerworld.

When you learn design, you will need to learn to design specific to 3D printing. That means you will need to pay attention to not only potential supports, but also layer orientation which effects strength.

I just printed these out of polycarbonate FR (flame resistant) .

Its a 90 degree pipe I designed, I screwed to my voxel filter, so I can extract the fumes outside after filtering, using my fresh air exchanger in the house. I also printed a sealed removable waste bin, because I noticed a lot of the fumes exit out the waste chute, especially if you are printing multi color because of so much waste. The waste chute was on makerworld for free.

I removed 2 of the flaps from the exhaust fan, so the air exchanger can still pull a little out of the printer when its in closed heating mode.

I also added a slider valve. I basically leave it all the way open when drying stuff, halfway open when in heating mode, and I close it off completely and turn the exhaust fan up to 50% or more when in cooling mode.

You can tell I printed it at a 45 degree angle to reduce supports and also not have the layer lines be perpendicular to either pipe, but I did have to add some supports to keep the base flat.
